But can it run Crysis?? The headlines should be about always on display battery life…

Yeah, I literally don’t know what market they’re chasing. I just want it to last ages, show the time, have alarms and let me pay for things and store my QR codes for store cards n’ shit. Thats it.

I specifically opted for the 2 days on my smasnug 5 pro over the prior pixel watch. idgaf about google assistant.

IMO a eInk / transflective display isn’t as sexy, but energy-wise they make so much sense to use in a watcg

I’m not sure you’d want to refresh e-ink every minute of every day, for the life of the device. Even with partial refresh, I have to imagine that would seriously reduce the lifespan.

My Garmin Forerunner 945 is now 3 and half years old and have logged over 12,000km+ of activities and still running fine. Also one of my running friend has a Forerunner released in 2011 still running strong in 2023, although with reduced battery life. He has ran over 20+ marathon with this watch. Usually in these watches the NAND flash wear out before e-ink.

Ah, good to know. I didn’t know there’d been e-ink watches before, but I’ve seen a lot of concern about constant refreshes burning out screens.

I will happily buy a Pixel Watch as soon as they release one larger than the current single size. Fingers crossed for the Pixel Watch 3 I guess.

I wish Google could just put out a good watch. The first pixel had a really outdated chip and they’re not putting the W5+? For the prices google charges you should get the W5+.
