        How?

If he plans to buy a golden card to flee Russia, he would prefer hist destination to be a stable country. If he plans on using the US as military support, he would prefer it to stay reasonably rich, as long as it doesn’t also help his enemies… And Canada and Mexico are not on the Russian list of enemies (or at least not until recently, Canada probably is now).

I think he’d much rather eliminate one of the top economies and make more room for the Russian economy to recover. I’d imagine the simplified version of the plan goes something like this:

          1. Make the US destroy all its current trade relationships
          2. In manufactured desperation, the US drops sanctions and tries to lean on Russia as a new partner
          3. ???
          4. Profit

The gold cards arent for Putin, they’re for all of the other Russian oligarchs that have destroyed Russia and need a new place to set up shop.

In reaction to tariffs on China, Beijing announced additional tariffs of up to 15% on imports of key U.S. farm products, including chicken, pork, soy and beef, and expanded controls on doing business with key U.S. companies.

China’s new tariffs will take effect starting March 10. They follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s order to raise tariffs on imports of Chinese products to 20% across the board. Those took effect on Tuesday, along with 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico.

That’s some serious retaliatory action there on China.

Their government has always been very wary of getting between their population and pork.
