World War II ended 78 years ago, a single average human lifespan almost exactly, and here we are after most of the world and especially the parties involved resolutely declared “never again.”

Duh. Israel is going to want to monitor the region for a long time to make sure Hamas isn’t coming back. That’s going to mean boots on the ground.
