I have an overdue library book going on 25 years. The late fee was 25 cents per day, and I was too scared to return it because of the fee. I just kept it with no intent to return.
The library I borrowed it from was demolished last year. Seems to have worked out for me.
The ruse was a success - they’ve finally revealed their location, send in the retrieval team. Their fines will pay for a new library.
I know it’s too late in your case, but please do not do this. Libraries just want their books back. They might even waive the fee if you’re nice about it. They certainly won’t send you to a collection agency. The absolute worse they will do is tell you that you can’t check out anything else until you pay your fee.
You should feel bad. With the money from the late fees, they could have afforded yo stay open. This is all your fault!
Just in time for Moms for Liberty to get it banned!
