I’m currently trying to leave this cycle. It’s not a very talked about issue thanks to hustle culture, but it’s a real one for a lot of people like me.

It can feel like you’re a total waste of space if you aren’t accomplishing something all the time. I can’t just rest, I need to do something with that time. I’ll be able to rest when I’m caught up (and thanks to how busy life is, that may be never)

One thing that helped me see myself better was to write a list at the end of every day of all the tasks I did that day, from small to large. What I found was that I was doing so many things every day, so no wonder I was so tired. It gave me a sense of permission to rest, because I could see the amount I had already done. I’m definitely not done fixing this cycle yet, but I wanted to offer this to anyone else struggling with this that it might help. You’re not alone.

I feel this post so much. I feel like it contributed to my addiction problems, and ultimately I think it’s good it caused me to leave that career path.

Reminder to everyone to take care of yourselves and know it’s not how much you work that makes you a valuable person.
