On iOS, apple barely shoves their bloatware down your throat. Their methodology is the opposite actually. Simplistic and debloated, for the most part. Google doesnt force you into anything either. There are alternative software that you can use.

With windows the only alternative is Linux, but a small fraction of people know about let alone use Linux so thats not really in the conversation.

Windows wants to force you to make an account/log in with one which cant be done offline unless you do some commandline workarounds in win11. The issue is, this is a PC. Not an iPhone. Not a Samsung. It is your own dedicated hardware that you should be able to use as you please without being forced into an online-only system that forces copilot down your throat.

Your pc isnt “a Microsoft computer”, its a computer that happens to run an operating system made by Microsoft.

Oh i was talking about PolyMC, a MultiMC fork. From what i know MultiMC is fine but less polishes than Prism which is a fork of PolyMC.

Owner locked all of the devs out of access to the project

And some other things i dont exactly remember rn, but because of this stuff the devs all left and forked into Prism so im not even sure is Poly is still being developed, and if it is id be sceptical on how safe it is to use given who owns it.

Yk i was insanely sceptical regarding the whole “but it probably has like fuckall users” part of Lemmy, but it feels miles less pretentious and inauthentic than reddit ever did. Wild how much more pleasant it is.

My main hopes for Lemmy really are that we manage to get a large enough userbase that more niche things arent excluded and forced to go to reddit, and that is isnt censored.

As much as i dont like some viewpoints from some groups (like the people supporting russia in ukraine, trump supporters, general trolls), i think censorship is more damaging than productive. I just hope that we can have nice things and it doesnt turn into a cesspool of either the far left or far right circlejerking eachother.
