I was curious, is there a way to set it up to always for PC to boot up and start peer sharing, I always use torrents for downloading movies on a road trips on laptop but leaving it over night I always only get a ratio of 0.5 or something.
I’m not the most familiar with torrents and a like, since I rarely go on road trips, but I love foss and would love to contribute somehow, I know that I can donate but I already struggle to pay rent >_<
Not sure what platform and app you’re using but on qBittorent you can set it to run on windows startup.
There’s also an option to prevent the system from going to sleep (could be why you only get +0.5 ratio during the night).
This last setting you can actually set it to download and/or upload.
Humm if it’s set to never sleep then yeah, it should work.
Only option I see is that one. Slow connection so over 8h, you only get 0.5ratio.
However, bear in mind that 0.5 ratio is a percentage so…
0.5 ratio on a 100GB torrent is still 50GB which isn’t bad at all.
Plus it depends on how many leeches there are… If there’s no one to send to, ratio won’t go up anyways so it might not be “your fault” 🙂

I run Linux mint on both PC and laptop btw.

I have transmission on both computers, I have laptop set to never sleep or turn off when plugged in, could be slow wifi maybe

Yeah usually a movie is a 1 to 2 GB file nd peers hover around 5 people but sometimes drops off to 0 for a while
