This is the third post I’ve seen on Lemmy recently where people seem to overwhelmingly think the word “scam” just means “something I don’t like”. To be a scam, something needs to be dishonest in its representation, usually either by falsifying the true cost to the buyer, or lying about what is being provided in return.
Congratulations, you’ve pretty much redefined “being a scam” to “being advertised”. What gives?
How about we leave the word to the outrageous cases of actively preying on specifically targeted victims? Talking grandmas into devolve their credit card numbers, Ponzi schemes, sects or USA healthcare — scams. NFTs, car ownership, DPRK or USA — not scams, misadvertisement.

Yes, we got all of the dramatic users shifted over to Lemmy so it’s to be expected. Everything is horrible to them.
I thought your comment was a humorous perspective with maybe some small truth to it. I guess all the down votes say I’m in the minority.
