Is there a reason why 100% of news links here are for leftist and far leftist websites?

Only is you are closed to allowing anyone to challenge what you say, if you are closed off to a different perspctives, if you refuse all information that articulates everything you believe is a lie.

It’s only because you can’t handle losing that you won’t be friends with people who disagree with what you think.

I deal with right wing wackos all the time, my family is full of them. I welcome having my perspectives challenged, it is an opportunity to perfect my arguments. Most of what they say is scientifically disproven quite easily, but since the right generally doesn’t believe in science, it doesn’t matter to them. Reality still wins in the end no matter how much they (and right wing media) deny it. See global warming as an example.

What are you academic sources or published papers to support your arguments?

For global warming, are you talking about the article signed by 16,000 scientists saying that global warming has never existed?

            You’re an idiot.

The world is getting warmer, if you won’t believe the temperature records and think they’re faked, just go ask your grandparent (or any old person)

They’ll tell you it’s not the same as it used to be 50 years ago.

Evidence all around you, and you’re just burying your head in the sand.

In the past 5 years, how many places on the planet have set new record lows for freezing temperarures?

Canada has “centrist” and right wing media outlets. It has virtually none (maybe tyee…) truly left-leaning ones.

Also, kind of content here may reflect folk views in general. Social media is mostly about echo chambers anyway…

I’m not going to dance around it: I enjoy that TOSun and NatPo opinion garbage rarely gets posted on this site, thank you very much.

Do you not enjoy having as many sources of information as possible to see if you are wrong or right?

I’d be curious as to what you consider to be Canadian “leftist” media. I would love not to have this preconception, but let me guess - you consider the PLC to be left leaning.

    Can you give examples?

The front page I see has:

    1. CTV News
    2. This post
    3. a pipe (YouTube mirror) video
    4. The Guardian
    5. Vancouver Sun
    6. cupe.ca – I would be surprised if this wasn’t pro union
    7. university magazine – never read this, but it seems like a university article on university politics
    8. Youtube video
    9. CBC
    10. CBC

Lemmy definitely has a leftward bent, I don’t find that very surprising. Some communities are very open about their leftward slant (like beehaw), some are very militantly anti-capitalist, some are communist.

Personally I’m centrist but I try and hear people out and read things both critically and openly.

I’m ok with a publicly stated policy that says “Liberal and leftist sources only”. I have a major problem with an attitude that says “If you don’t like the truth on the left, you have a right to be stupid and ignorant”

I agree with you on that. You can hear an idea and disagree with it, but to insist there’s only one perspective is super harmful.

I’m not going to go out and read the National Post but I’ll try and listen to new Ideas and perspectives.

The conservatives just want to butt in everywhere it seems.

I remember during the election season they were heavily attempting damage control on the instance for their beloved John Rustad.
