With many Linux desktops now running Wayland quite nicely, it seems it's time to keep pushing ahead. AMD have revealed what they call the AMDGPU Composition Stack (ACS).
Holy shit, I love seeing team red balls deep into linux. One thing is making your driver open source which is freaking awesome, but a compositor? That’s cool as fuck.
On the other hand, their software to flash GPU VBIOS is proprietary, requires downloading from some third-party websites, and they are quick to DMCA the shit of anyone hosting it on GitHub. They’re definitely not saints (neither is any capitalist corporation to be fair)
