I think that very much depends on how they’re implemented. If there is some sort of electoral-college-equivalent in the process: very much more racist, isolationist, and misogynist. If it’s absolute numbers and no distorting process is applied: more racist and isolationist but abortion will be legalized by a narrow margin.
Politicians would have to work a bit harder to do the bidding of their financial backers and ignore what the public wants.
Gamed by special interests just like they already are in the states that have them.
Yeah… I still think referendums are good but fundamentally democracy can’t coexist comfortably with extreme wealth inequality. So it’s a good idea but it doesn’t solve the core issue.
