“Read Me a Story, Stella” is a children’s picture book about a pair of siblings reading books together and building a doghouse. However, because the author’s name is Marie-Louise Gay, the book was added to a list of potentially “sexually explicit” books to be moved from the children’s section of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library (HCPL) system.
Really shows how much thought is put into the book bans.
Zero. Zero thought is put into these reactionary bullshit book bans.
They really would like it if gay people didn’t exist…
Nah, if gay people didn’t exist they’d have to find another group to persecute. Aside from black people, hispanic people, college educated people, women, gingers, vegans, people who once owned a Prius, that guy who rides a bike to work twice a month…
I mean, last names tend to hang around a while. Maybe the author’s family was really happy a long time ago. We can’t have that now can we?!
Clearly they missed the Alabama history lesson on Emma Reed.
Don’t tell them about the most famous bomber plane from WW2. They’d have a fit about Enola Gay dropping the Little Boy.
Embarrassing.
I guess it’s technically a “gay book”…
