As a total noob I have to ask… what are the advantages of a private tracker? And does that mean I need to have a super seed upload volume in GBs?
For me, a private tracker allows for API integration with Radarr/Sonarr/Readarr
Plus, it’s less likely I get takedown requests on my seed box.
You don’t need upload in GBs - lots of private trackers will use time uploading as an indicator too
How does a private tracker ensure that it hasn’t been compromised though? From my understanding they largely disallow the use of VPNs, although perhaps that isn’t true of all private trackers. Still, this user for example could be a bad actor and he was just given an invite code without any sort of check being done.
It doesn’t. But some private trackers will hold you accountable for people you invite and request invites are given to friends/family only.
Most allow a VPN, AFAIK. Torrents are tracked via your secret key, not your IP address.
better quality content from consistent a consistent user base. less attention from the outside world.
