House Bill (HB) 500, which is to be heard in the House Small Business and Information Technology Committee Wednesday, would take away Kentucky workers’ rights to lunch and rest breaks at work and would eliminate pay protections, including for time spent traveling to and from a job site during work hours. It is an assault on longstanding basic rights and dignities on the job that will harm practically all Kentucky workers. Specifically, HB 500:

Repeals the requirement that employers provide a lunch break. Currently, businesses must provide a lunch break every three to five hours, but that right would be eliminated under HB 500. Instead, HB 500 says only that a worker required to keep working without a lunch break can’t be denied pay if they juggle eating something while on the job.

That article doesn’t give NEAR enough info about the WHO that is bringing this to the floor.

    Here’s the bill

… sponsor by Representative Phillip Pratt [R]

    Wait, whats this?

No…it can’t be he is a business owner that just wants to treat his workers like garbage, can it?

Maybe this is just a similarly named company with nothing to do with Representative Phillip Pratt [R]

Or maybe its undoubtedly the same Representative Phillip Pratt [R]

    source

I wonder if his employees know he put forth this legislation and that their basic human needs are on the chopping block for this guy’s extra pocket money.

I didn’t even realize it when I posted before, but he’s even wearing the same tie and what I’m guessing is his congressional pin in his company picture as he is on his government picture.

Oo, and I am finding some juicy reviews on Angie’s List. Definitely read the last one if you skip the other two:

We were referred by a friend. I wouldn’t recommend them. Not well. They wouldn’t honor their 1 year warranty. They were unprofessional, were currently setting them. I don’t know what to say. Everything they planted died and they won’t replace it even though they were supposed to have a warranty. They were higher than anyone else we got estimate from.

My husband hired Pratts last Spring to do all the landscaping for our new house. We were moderately satisfied at first, even though we felt they were grossly overpriced for the service they provided, did not plant the plants we asked for, and some of what they did plant looked unhealthy, but we were reassured that they had a 1 year warranty and they would make sure we were happy. However the majority of the plants were dead within a month. After much frustration not showing up, rescheduling etc they did replant the items, but they barely put them in the dirt, haphazardly, and with no real concern, many of those died as well, but the owner wanted us to wait to replant until this spring stating it was to hot in the summer for the plants. Here we are, it’s Spring, every single plant,Over $12,000 worth are dead, not just recovering from a long winter, but dead dead. Our yard looks horrible, it is an embarrassment. We scheduled them to come out and look at the plants, but once again they either canceled or no showed 4 times. They finally showed up today, 3 hours late, and are not going to honor their 1yr warranty, stating that it was a hard winter and therefore it is an act of God. We will be contacting the BBB and an attorney.

They didn’t do what I asked them. They wouldn’t treat the lawn the way I wanted. I was told I needed to thatch my lawn before I had it seeded. The owner came out and called me a liar because of this and I told him to get off my property. He’s very arrogant.

      https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ky/georgetown/pratts-lawn-and-landscape-inc-reviews-463535.htm

There’s one super long one that I won’t paste.

Every republicunt is trying to fuck over every worker, and their notably poor as fuck and overworked constituents are lapping it up because they think it will only be used on labor.

I hate how bad those right wing shitstains have ruined our country, all while claiming to be patriots.

They responded to all of the reviews saying politics are not relevant and they are reporting the review to yelp. Even on an old review that said they never showed up What a piece of shit.

“Your negative review only hurts the hard working employees of Pratt’s Lawn and Landscaping.”

“Hurting our hard working employees is the exclusive privilege of our company owner and sponsor of the bill you’re complaining about, Representative Phillip Pratt [R]” /s

That last one was kept on. One note on Yelp that I did find ironic:

Your trust is our top concern, so businesses can’t pay to alter or remove their reviews. Learn more about reviews.

Yelp apparently does not trust consumers to let them know of owners supporting inhumane working conditions.

A lot of it is these types of things don’t apply to them, and they don’t care what happens to other people. In my experience conservatives tend to be very selfish.

In the Kentucky State House of Representatives, Republicans usually have weak-to-no opposition on the ballot in rural areas. There is a dearth of democrats in these local races, mostly because you don’t want to out yourself as different in a community that votes 99% Trump.

Because people are not, in general, rational and aware.

The republicunts are well practiced at saying the meaningless words to their base that make every abuse patriotic.

The Kentucky 500 race to the bottom is on.

Douche takes a quick lead. With Canoe coming on strong. In third we have Ass. Wipe is working hard, trying to get around Ass.

I saw this and it reminded me, “Welp, time to get to work!” my job doesn’t allow us breaks either. They had us each sign a waiver that we agree to forego our brakes. And I’m pretty sure that’s illegal.
