That doesn’t remove the connotation for larger audiences. A layman will never know those details and will read master race as being about race. The social context and history are irrelevant, it’s genuinely a dumb hill to die on.

If your first thought when you hear this in very clear context is nazi crap over a pretty funny piece of gaming history then that sounds like a you problem, nobody should actually be offended by something as benign as this. If anything even if that is somehow the case, nazis should be laughed at and made fun of instead of holding ‘their words’ in some hush-hush revered taboo state. The symbolism of dark vs light, fire vs darkness predates modern notions of racism and according to a quick wiki check, the etymology of the word blacklist has no relation to the color of anyone’s skin either.

I really can’t agree that the name is funny. It affiliates everyone who wants to gather and talk about PCs with so-called “race scientists” who genocide in the name of a so-called “master race”. Can’t imagine wanting to associate with that, but its horrifying that people think it’s politically neutral to do so.
