Israeli forces in Gaza destroyed the body of a Palestinian man by running him over either using a tank or a bulldozer, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said on Friday.

The man is believed to have been in Israeli custody at the time or as of recently. It is not clear if he was alive or dead at the time he was run over.

Most moral army brutally mutilates the bodies of Palestinians while they might have still been alive.

Half censored image of Palestinian detainee ran over by the IDF: NSFL(gore+death): Image

Fully uncensored image: NSFL (SUPER GORE + DEATH): image

I know the answer is probably ‘because AIPAC’ or some ass-covering legalese but that said i still take issue with the the picture confirms as fact that IDF crushed someone who was recently a detainee with tank treads.

Is the reader to suppose that after witnesses say he was detained and questioned, he was ‘freed’ before they crushed him and therefore it is his status as a detainee that is unconfirmed? This picture does not “suggest” anything.

I am struggling to understand the wording of this as anything other than journalistic deference to the state, though i suppose a more charitable take would be that nobody does any journalism besides the yellow kind.

Yellow journalism and yellow press are American terms for journalism and associated newspapers that present little or no legitimate, well-researched news while instead using eye-catching headlines for increased sales.

included this cuz it’s a yankee term

MEE is an incredibly biased and half truth organization. Will their be some truth behind this - probably, but consider them as accurate as timesofisrael…

The thumbnail is also a stock picture of them loading tanks onto trucks

Why are they prisoners when talking about Israelis and detainees when talking about Palestinians?

We’re gonna need a Hebrew version of that Chinese copypasta folks use to counter tankies about Tianenmen Square.

As damning as the images are, let’s remember we live in an age of unprecedented misinfo. Which doesn’t just include fake images, but can also include easier things like lying about the context of the image. I don’t see any source other than this one and social media posts so that’s why I’m suspicious.

Edit: Ok my cautious uncertainty is being downvoted by the uncautiously certain. So maybe I need to do a better job of pointing out why this might be BS:

    • The picture has no context. We can tell it’s a slightly dark skinned person, which means it could be a Palestinian, or a Syrian, or an Iraqi, or a Houthi, or an Afghan…
    • But, you say…do we know of any other executions like this? Why, yes we do. ISIS certainly did this, there’s videos of it.
    • Of course, this all assumes the picture is real. And there’s really no guarantee it is. One problem I can see off the bat is that the prisoner has a zip tie on his hand, BUT it’s tight around his wrist, unlike how you’d imagine someone would be zip tied - around both wrists. Another problem is that the arm is intact, meaning he wasn’t zip tied around his back which is how it’s usually done. It’s possible this was a soldier run over by a tank in a combat zone, and the zip tie was added later. Or the whole image is fake. Or the whole image is real and there’s some reasonable explanation for the oddness of the zip tie, I really don’t know. But it at least might be BS on some level.

Strawman. I’m not someone who looks highly on how the IDF is acting. But these images cause an emotional reaction, and I can’t find the source other than a social media claim (on the most disinfo-friendly social media network) that itself cites hearsay. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, just that it has massive red flags and needs confirmation.

Counterpoint: the IDF is doing these things specifically to create anger and resentment because they need continued terrorism on Israelis to keep their casus belli in play. They’re provoking it so they can continue ethnic cleansing defending themselves.

You think western media is gonna show Israeli war crimes this horrific, much less talk about it?

Yes, western media includes a lot more than safe stations like CNN. But furthermore, it could be any media, arab media like Al Jazeera, whatever. No one is posting about this other than on social media.
