I’ve recently bought an RX 6700XT and before it arrives I want to install some games to play. I would prefer singelplayer games but I’m not against some (not too expensive) mutliplayer games. I recently played rdr2 and it’s definetly one of my favories games ever. I also enjoy Cities: Skylines. I haven’t played many singleplayer games yet but I would appreciate some recommendations.
elden ring if you have not yet played it!
Deep Rock Galactic is always one I like to mention to friends. Basically the modern Left for Dead, and it’s fantastic. I will say that as someone who’s logged well over 1k hours on it since the early days, this next season is the first time I’ve felt like the game is starting to stagnate. Since the move to a season pass there’s been less and less content compared to years past in general.
Nonetheless, for a new player there is all sorts of stuff to keep you occupied and having fun. And there are absolutely no scummy practices or microtransactions involved
Cyberpunk2077 is a great game now in spite of the rocky launch. If you like RDR2, I think you will enjoy Cyberpunk2077 as well.
As a note, for anyone who’s waited this long to play Cyberpunk, it might be worth waiting just a bit longer. CDPR is releasing an ‘expansion’ which sounds like it’s going to completely rework a lot of the core systems and fix many of the issues that were most commonly talked about. https://www.videogameschronicle.com/features/cyberpunks-expansion-totally-overhauls-the-original-game/
Interesting, I’ll definetly look forward to that thanks.
I’m seldom picky about what I play, so, by extension, expect to see little to no consistency in what I’d recommend:

There are also games sold/distributed only as ROMs you can run on emulators, if you’d be interested too.
A literal overkill for your card, but have you already tried Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain?
Dying Light!
I liked Horizon Zero Dawn and Titanfall 2, can easily recommend both. The first hour of HZD is kind of meh, but it gets better after.
Holy crap I plan on getting that card too, it’s a good price for a higher margin graphics card.
At what manufacturer are you looking right now? For me it was a hard choice but in the end I got the Asus Dual 6700XT because it was at a great price.
In case you aren’t already aware, Cities: Skylines 2 comes out October 24th
Other than that I can only really reccomend you strategy games cause thats what I play lol.
From the same publisher as Cities: Skylines are the most popular grand strategy games, often refered to as Paradox (the company) games. Biggest ones are Eu4 (Europa Universalis 4) and HoI4 (Hearts of Iron 4), but there are quite a few others. Keep in mind however that these games with all DLC will cost you an arm and a leg, Paradox is heavy on DLC. But there are subscriptions for them, so $5 per month to have all the DLC, which is significantly cheaper until you play for 100000 years (I think more like 5 years before that $5 adds up to what it would’ve cost to buy the DLC). If you aren’t already into these, do know that they’re hard games to learn, I mostly learned how to play by watching youtuber lets plays of them.
Total War games are also good, I personally like Empire, Naloleon, and Shogun II / Fall of the Samurai / Rise of the Samurai. If you’ve never heard of them, they’re a mix of a grand strategy turn based game in the campaign map, and a pausable RTS in the actual battles where you control your units and fight it out.
Yeah I own almost all up to date paradox game except Vic 3. I got like 300 hours on Hoi4 but stopped because without most DLCs the game’s just ok. EU4 is a game though I’ve tried multiple times to get into but same here with the DLCs. Also an issue I have with paradox games is that I never know what to do. There’s just so much to do and to consider that I can never set me a goal to reach. Total War is something I’ll definetly check out. I’ve heard alot about it but never seen alot. Thanks for the recommendation.
If you don’t have the DLC for Hoi4, Road to 56 makes for a great mod to get you some good focus trees and such, pretty much every country in the world has a unique focus tree. Worth it to check out.
Thats a common problem people have with Paradox games, for the most part my goals in them are just “paint the map however is most convenient” lmao. I have a hard time actually getting the motivation to fight tough opponents and normally ignore them in favor of expanding the easy path, until those powerful guys are now too powerful for me to even deal with.
Btw, the Total War games I said I liked are older entries into the series. I haven’t really played with the newer Total Wars, so it’d probably be worth it for you to look into them and see which one is most attractive for you as I can’t really reccomend any of them having not played them. Do know that Empire is extremely clunky, and Napoleon is practically the same game, with a smaller map, far less clunkiness, and of course a bit later in history.
