Stormy Daniels was ordered to pay Trump’s legal fees due to a failed defamation suit and Trump’s lawyers tried to get an NDA in addition to the amount that Stormy’s legal team offered. The headline makes it sound like he was randomly offering her money just to shut up which is not the case. When we promote these sort of headlines it just gives the MAGA cult stuff to point at as to why all news is “fake news” and nothing should be trusted.

I have no idea why he went back. I get that it takes balls to become a martyr but this one just felt like he could have made more of a difference being a vocal dissident living abroad. Maybe he had more faith that his imprisonment would start a movement for change in Russia but it went exactly how everyone expected it would.

Am I the only one who doesn’t care that much? People should be putting as much of the text/image directly into the body of their lemmy posts anyway to save clicks, a link to reddit when attribution feels necessary seems more appropriate in most cases because if I click the link I probably want to go to the actual source of info not an archive.

We had John Adams x4, George Clinton x2, DeWitt Clinton x1, James Monroe x2, John Quincy Adams x2 also a total of 11x.

Roosevelts were on the ballot 8x election cycles but the gap years screwed them. And they were close to uniting with the Nixon 5x streak also with some gaps. And then after one cycle right into the Bush Sr streak. If things shook out just a bit different there was a 19x streak in the cards.

Then I read the story and holy hell that woman shot a perfectly healthy dog out of spite. South Dakota has animal shelters, Kristi, you psycho.

I can admit I delay work more from home than I did when I was at the office. I do about the same amount overall I just don’t get around to it as quickly.

But the company I’m with would also have to pay me 20-30% more to go into the office as I have better offers for that already and I’d still probably just hop to another company that lets me work from home for a similar salary.

There shouldn’t be any paid resort trips for judges in the first place, even with disclosure.

Week long colloquiums at a resort in Montana paid for by some conservative group? Why do judges need a colloquium in the first place? They don’t need to go to a conference to tell them how to judge things based on political lines. There’s already a system of judges that’s supposed to interpret grey areas of the law as a group that’s the whole point of appellate courts and the multi-judge panels on them.
