This is one of the absolute greatest reasons to support opening most everything in a new tab (as long as you don’t end up like my mom who at one point had over 100 tabs on her phone). Doesn’t matter if it’s a link from the same website, from a search engine, or whatever else there is. New tab.

The funny thing about that is the game store I really like also sells fake cartridges/ROM hack cartridges that are clearly fake and not labeled as the real deal. Don’t know how they source them, but I could probably buy something like Shadow the Hedgehog on Genesis.

Also, I really don’t expect anything even slightly good to come of this GameStop retro games thing considering the fact it doesn’t matter whether the game is legit or rare, they’ll buy at as low of a price as possible then sell at least 2x the going rate online. That, and their workers probably aren’t gonna be given any training whatsoever to spot even the most obvious fakes and will probably get severely reprimanded over buying a fake.

At this point, there are definitely plenty, but I’d personally say my top picks are definitely (in no particular order):

• Brok the Investigator

• Franklin (yes I’m a child at heart sometimes)

• New Vegas and the DLCs

• Borderlands (on xbox360 w/ all 4 DLCs, have been playing on and off for over a decade and still have way too much stuff left)

• An American Tail (definitely in my top 3, if not my absolute favorite 3D animated film ever)

In other news, oil tycoons have already begun making as much propaganda as possible as to why the world needs Antarctic oil for your car and why it’s more environmentally friendly than any other source of fuel.

I’d say /s but I’m pretty sure they’re still putting out pro oil propaganda because their lives and riches depend on destroying the planet.

Absolutely agree with point 2, not just for Mastodon, but others like here on Lemmy or Misskey or whatever it may be.

The process of finding an instance can sometimes be annoying because you might find an instance that sounds alright, like I did for Mastodon, and then find that there’s the problem of sign-ups not available. That, and signing up for the instance I got on then had a waiting period for account review and all that before I could do anything.

I assume, from what I’ve heard, all you gotta do for threads and bluesky is just sign up and start posting with less effort, which is what the majority of people want.

On my laptop/desktop, for now I’d say Strawberry Music Player because I like playing/listening to the audio files I’ve stored locally on them.

For my phone, it’s currently Auxio for the same reason.

My social skills really took a nosedive more towards my senior year highschool, so I’d say I’m somewhat like that. Yes I can hold a conversation with someone, but the chances of me being the one to initiate are slim to zero anymore since I just genuinely suck at starting them anymore. That, and I get a little nervous/potentially anxious talking to strangers.

Fighting piracy is like a caveman with a pointy stick trying to fight a 3 headed hydra from Greek mythology. The only way for them to truly defeat the hydra is an idea they would never accept because they aren’t allowed to treat customers/consumers as people.

Definitely too late for them to be trying to get into the retro games market where I live. We’ve already got a pretty decent retro games store that sells more than just retro game stuff. It’s a GameStop on steroids since they also sell new games, plushies, used DVDs, physical board/card games, manga, etcetera. It even has 2 locations!

Don’t know if it’s still the case, but I did hear around maybe mid to late 2010s they had even replaced GameStop on a military base. As for the store chain, I don’t know whether it’s a west coast thing, but Game World.

If my desktop didn’t get disconnected every night due to router restart and I wasn’t worried about my VPN killswitch deciding to activate, I wouldn’t mind doing a little bit of seeding of some old stuff.

I heard of this somewhere around a couple years back and it just sounds like an absolute hassle to do. Especially since, despite using chopsticks for over a decade, I still am not the greatest with them.

Those no phones in school rules would have absolutely killed me since I always listened to music in-between classes in highschool. Especially freshman world history class since I kinda relied on my phone for the digital textbook since I almost lost my physical copy I got loaned from the bookstore.

Slim chance, but for my first and only scratch ticket, being only one away from winning is pretty cool in my book.

Not rich, but definitely more well off. As a one off thing, bought myself a scratch ticket and almost won somewhere around $20,000. Luck almost shined on me.
