  • Has been an issue for a while. The sub of ~30k I was a mod in, I was picked up because I was reporting bot posts and posting the OG posts. I was modded by one the other mod (the sub owner was non-existent really) so instead of me being the middle man, I would just respond with the OG post so there was a “trail” and then remove the post.

I did other little things like discussion threads for the weekly event, but I just hated seeing the bots. It died down after a few months, so they have to be watching the metrics on the subs to know where it’s allowed and where it isn’t.

  • This is the stupid part. I left and didn’t go back. I still end up there searching the odd problem online, but I don’t necessarily need it. The one sub I modded, when I was last checking, has had quite a bit of spam and self-promotion “watch my new YouTube video” shit going on. I wasn’t the only one doing anything on the team, as it was like 30k+ members, but it was alow traffic sub. But they don’t do the weekly discussion threads, the repost bots were rampant.

All to make more money. I don’t know why people stayed. All that huffing and puffing, just to cower and fold.

I’m a Boost truther. I loved Boost for Reddit, and the dev is usually super responsive in the subreddit when it was a thing. I also used many Reddit apps; BaconReader, Relay, and Apollo on iPhone back when I had one. Boost was easy favorite. I’m not entirely sure how it plays with every lemmy instance though, as I’m just on .world

  • I actually bought their Immune System book, just cause I’ve enjoyed their stuff for so long. I remember those stupid little birds over a decade ago, and the book serves a little more purpose than their general merch. It’s also really well illustrated. Haven’t had the time to read it yet, as it’s pretty lengthy and sorta dry as a “scientific” immune system picture book should sorta be, lol.

Also, awesome your brother got referenced! That’s pretty sweet
