Those in open source circles will see through places like GamingOnLinux, Lemmy, Reddit and the official IRC/Discord. Those that don’t find out probably are no where near the open source gaming community so it won’t really matter.

You took longer to write than just to scroll…
There is right wing, and then there is unhinged nonsense.
I’m from the UK. You get The Times and Telegraph which try to back up their facts and then Daily Mail and Express which is toxic bile. Most right wingers who like the first two publications would probably vomit in their mouths at Fox News content.
It’s not about it being right wing, it’s about it being shite.
I’m from the UK and we have pretty wank choices. Last election it was pro Israel vs pro Israel. Unfortunately politics is like a bus, and you gotta ride the one heading closest to your direction. We basically were heading for Labour landslide so in some seats, people could choose another option.
In presidential elections, its a little diferrent. Trump absolutely would give unquestionably. He did this with recognising Jerusalem wholly as Israel capital. I’m not defending Dems, they’re shit. Joe has been poor on this. Kamala, we don’t know too well. We do know if she wants to be elected, she cannot outright say anything or AIPAC will throw everything against her.
First Past the Post sucks as an electoral system. Sometimes it’s about building support for the good forces in the lesser elections (state etc to apply pressure). The moment it looks like their power is about to go, they rethink their positions.
Maybe they need to legalise drugs, tax it and fund rehabilitation.
I have a feeling that the ones opposed to this aren’t even in the country (USA).
I’m guessing it’s an America only bot on World News.
They always claim Hezbollah is terrorist, but surely the IDF have a larger civilian kill count and a larger percentage of civilians killed.
Israel feeling pretty confident there is zero consequences to their actions now.
It’s looking like the Oprah meme. “You get a genocide, and you get a genocide, and you get a genocide”
I simply can not comprehend how any politicians defend Israel and don’t have their reputation in tatters.
What? It’s the BBC, probably what most would say is the most reputable source in the UK.
Dumb bot.
You ain’t wrong. The level of arrogance stinks. Especially when the author put effort into documenting the sources etc.
There do appear to be a lot of these know-it-all-but-contribute-little types around.
Maybe a few are missing, but simply asking, and I’m sure they’ll provide. If someone wants a better build system, they could volunteer to do it themselves.
By that logic, you’re dragging down lemmy.ca. Though I don’t really take that line of logic, cause I ain’t a dick.
If everyone you look at is trash, either they are, or you are. You’d need some self-awareness and comprehension of the history of Lemmy (including the fact that Lemmy.ml was the main instance before the influx, and after, Lemmy.world had major reliability issues for a while). Many people ended up on ml and don’t really suffer the red scares.
The amount of “I got banned off ml for saying x. Didn’t realise it was as bad as Reddit which I also got banned off multiple times”. I mean if folks are getting banned of a right wing cess pool and a left wing instance, is the issue the instances, or them.
I get the bad mods argument but tarring a whole community based on this isn’t cool.
Don’t get me wrong, .world has some really big ass hats and questionable moderation, but it doesn’t mean all their users are bad.
The other one is dead. Up to you.
Very much so, and apologies if my last sentence was a bit heavy. I’m a bit too used to reddit and the astroturfing that goes on there.
I agree with most of what you said here but do take exception to point about the risk not being extensive compared to other things we are exposed to. I think we should not accept hazardous materials because we are subject to them elsewhere. I’m not a hairdresser, but risks to their health should be eradicated. Harmful particulate should be eradicated, and aspartame too. Let’s take bullets out of the chambers handed to us in this corporate run game of life Russian Roulette.
My take wasnt that this is bad news. My take is moving from 1 poison to another is not a good thing. There are studies either way, and it’s worth considering where the scientists funding came from. Industry do invest in research for a reason which can result in more studies.
The following summarises some of the risks. While my accuracy wasn’t great, the conclusion that aspartame is safe is highly questionable. If you’re promoting it like it’s a great thing, it’s a very bizarre take to have.
Sugar is rubbish, but doesn’t make artificial sweeteners good. Best things to drink are water, with maybe occasional fruit juice/smoothie. Not artificial rubbish.
Oh and the World Health Organisation considers aspartame a possible carcinogen. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/aspartame-risks
Football season is good and I’ve always preferred grass to astroturf. Industry are always gonna push the “there is no proof” until the deaths/illness become hard to ignore and the profit already made.
