You should look up ‘proud flesh’ on horses(warning, its a graphic skin condition). It’s what I think of everytime I see proud boys, except somehow they’re more disgusting.

Was this some iteration of “straight men don’t care about aesthetics, they care about function” type of thing??
Because that’s such a boring existence. I’m sorry your dad hates aesthetics. I hope you’ve found your own tastes despite him.
Is this the mcdonalds hot coffee case all over again? Defaming the victims and making everyone think they’re ridiculous, greedy, and/or stupid to distract from how what the company did is actually deeply fucked up?
The thing is, a lot of white people in the US are probably descendants of illegal immigration and they either dont know, or dont care. I know my family is. During the Irish potato famine we can trace when my ancestors immigrated to Canada and illegally hopped the boarder into the US(they should’ve stayed in Canada, I could’ve been Canadian and have access to healthcare damnnit)
I know my ancestors aren’t the only ones who did that. People were desperate then, just like they are now.
I hate that this country has way too many bigoted hypocrites and too many talking heads that encourage them to believe bullshit lies.
Poe’s Law has leaked into reality.
We can put paper bags over our heads if we forgot our towels though.
It’s still insane to me that people were actually doing that. I know meds like ivermectin and pyrantel are used in humans but still… Horses have BIG organs, and that paste is a suspension dosed specifically to get rid of equine intestinal worms. It’s not the same as the pill you get from a pharmacy.
Even if those people who ate horse dewormer felt no ill effects I bet there’s some organ damage in there. I’d hazard a guess that human livers and kidneys don’t like high doses of that stuff.
The DEA needs to be dismantled and have all those tax dollars put to better use.
I take ADD drugs for a central nervous system disorder(they keep me awake) and my Dr is really worried about me not being able to get them since I can’t work without them. I know folks with ADD need them to function too(drs are prescribing my less used medication to replace adderall) so now everyone’s suffering because some douchbags in the DEA decided drs are the enemy.
My drs office just got audited by the DEA so all her patients on stimulants and painkillers had to do urine drug tests.
Sorry for the rant. But seriously, defund the DEA.
Same at my job. Busy half the year, dead the other half. I also have great bosses who understand we can’t help it if there’s no work to do.
It’d be pretty horrible being given nothing to do and knowing it’s because they want you to quit. That’s not a good environment for anyone. Eventually showing up out if spite will wear on you. What a shitty practice. I’m glad their being called out for it.
For some of us American’s we’re trapped in it and it seems like it’ll never go away no matter how much we hate it.
I’m someone who lives in a very rural area because I can’t afford to live in a city… so I need a car. Somehow, a mortgage and sharing a car with my husband is still more affordable than living in a walkable/bikable city in my state. That’s a problem. I don’t know how to fix it, but that’s a freaking problem. Rent in some areas is double my mortgage on my small house. People who rent are getting royally fucked over by ever increasing prices.
If we want people to have less cars then cities need to be affordable for people to live in. It shouldn’t cost more to not have a car. The US has so many backwards problems it starts to feel insurmountable.
That’s absolutely correct. MLMs make you buy their shitty products at steep prices and leave it to you to sell the rest at even more outragous prices. Once you bought their product, in bulk, at markup, they made a profit.
They dont give a fuck if you can sell it or not. You bought it, now you’re stuck with this useless shit.
Trump and company are doing something similar with ideas. Believe these words, no matter how horrible and bad they are, even if you’re loved ones vehemetly disagree with you, even if it will destroy democracy and hurt several vulnerable populations of people… believe us no matter what. Get invested beyond reason and stay angry even if it ruins your life.
They’re basically sucking the happiness out of people and then blaming x, y, and z groups for it.
It’s genuinely disturbing.
I’m pretty sure women don’t want to date people who have any sort of disposition that leans towards hating them or believing that women are lesser than men.
Unfortunately, a lot of men learned that way of thinking early in life(from family and/or media) and it ruins any attempt at a relationship, then they blame women and run to the very people who set them up to fail for validation, or find new ones like that sex trafficker with the pizza boxes, or that canadian psychologist who sugar coats sexism online. Repeat ad nauseum.
People should also be aware that not all catholic hospitals are open about being catholic. In some areas they are buying up smaller practices and entire hospitals but keeping it’s previous name so it’s confusing and harder to avoid them.
I never meant to imply that things, or parts of things created with an AI shouldn’t be able to be copyrighted, but as the law is now that’s how it works. Things might change in the future to more directly address this, which is what this current case is doing.
As for copyrighting the prompt that could get tricky. For example you can’t copyright a title, but you can copyright a literary work.
So if your prompts are that long you should be able to copyright the prompts as literary work, but someone who just types in “brown cat” isn’t going to be able to and shouldn’t be able to, because copyrighting the concept of a brown cat in general is silly. What about "fat, brown cat.?’ Well, someone is going to have think very hard about how long the prompts have to be before they are eligible. That’s not even considering the prompt part, just the right to your written concept before it becomes a prompt.
I’m hoping it’ll work out fairly eventually. I work in professionally in traditional media so it’s not something that effects me, but I do have a basic understanding of copyright laws(as they are) to share.
But I do see your point about it being a tool. Like if my paint brand tried to say I don’t have a right to the work I created with their paint I’d be pissed, but that’s a lot less complicated(legally speaking) to parse out than AI generated stuff because we don’t yet have precedents for that.
Plus all the unethical and exploitive AI scraping that’s been going on that no one agreed to has left a lot of artists kinda bitter towards AI… so there’s not a lot of sympathy in creative communities towards it’s use right now. If they could use it more ethically I think you’d see a shift in attitudes fairly quickly.
This is correct. If a painter uses AI to generate a concept and composition, then does a classical oil painting of it on canvass they can claim right to the image of the oil painting.
It’s no different than an artist painting a public park or forest. They can’t copyright that location, but they can copyright the painting of that location.
Wow. DeSantis is going for gold in the “I’m a complete piece of shit that doesn’t deserve to exist on the same planet as the rest of us” race.
Also, banning abortion isn’t going to increase the “domestic source of babies” that’s supposed to keep the economy going. If they’re so worried about our future population maybe fix the school shooting issue with gun control? It’s kinda hard to grow a population when children(and adults) keep getting killed by mass shooters.
Oh yeah, the population issue is just a dog whistle to torture women. Yes, torture. Dying slowly from sepsis because a hospital won’t remove a dead baby from your body should classify as torture.
People like DeSantis are actually evil. They make up ‘problems’ so they can justify enacting cruel legislation. Please let a sink hole randomly open up swallow that asshole.
I’d probably draw on his face first because I’m a bit childish but yeah. What the hell is wrong with people?
I see your point, I do. But I also see theirs. There will be no one around in the future to enjoy or make art if we continue fucking up the world with fossil fuels the way we are.
Maybe it’d be better to walk around posting little signs on the paintings descriptions with a catch phrase like “like art? Stop fossil fuels” then a little blurb about how there’ll be no art in the future if there is no future.
That’s probably how I’d handle it, maybe even try to work with the museum so the signs wouldnt get taken down. But, that doesn’t get media attention. It’d never end up in the news. Maybe after contacting 50 museums it’d get a small mention, but ultimately no one would care.
Our current news cycles don’t encourage people to act civilly when trying to be heard. So that’s why this sort of extreme behavior keeps happening. It’s a vicious feedback loop and just like climate change we don’t seem to be making any moves to stop it.
Mcdonald’s was making their coffee so hot frodo could’ve destroyed the one ring in it.
That guy sucks for keeping wild animals without the proper certification and training resulting in no medical care for the animals.
At the same time I’m also skeptical of how the state handled it because I feel it’s important to remember that policies and how situations are handled can always use improvement.
For example, how did the investigator get bitten? Were they wearing proper protective gear and following procedure? Was he or she properly trained to detain animals like a squirrel? If the state is going to send people to confiscate wild animals a bite incident is a big fucking deal and there should be an internal investigation as to how that happened. For both the future safety of the employees and animals.
This whole situation sucks.
