If the world was a better place for having had you in it, even by so much as a single smile, then your life is not wasted.
If not, there’s still time to do something about that.
If they were here but just lurking, how would you know?

Not overdoing it all. Mine go from 0: Dump, Mine, Gather, Cooking and plants, Maps and slots, Rares & Decor, Crafting, Crafting 2, Sentinels, Gifts.
So different categories, and I cannot recommend enough having 0 as a random dump to leave things in and sort out later (also has eggs, fuel and stuff I use frequently) but otherwise congratulations on your wise choices!
Not at all!
When you request a cab a channel is opened for you and you fill in a short form with some relevant details, including your NMS friend code.
Your cabbie will provide theirs too. You add each other, and the cabbie joins your game.
They go to your chosen system while you go to the Anomaly. When you fly out of the Anomaly it asks which system you want to go to. You choose your cabbie’s system, then you’re there! We provide instructions all the way through.
Some cabbies have portals in all galaxies (I’m up to 90) so we can take you anywhere, in any game mode and any galaxy.
This service is provided for free because we like helping people.
Come to Pan Galactic Star Cabs’ Discord. We will be happy to take you back to Eissentam again, for free!
I know this used to be the case. Last time I tried though reloading the game no longer kicked off the battle (so the freighter was gone). You’re right that you can skip the fight if you land on the freighter, but I believe you now have to warp in each time.
There are two models that you can only get as Capital Freighters in varying lengths; Sentinels (long ones shaped like a bread knife) and Venators (look like an Imperial star destroyer). These will not normally show up in a system without going through the freighter fight. (They did show up for me in the expedition which was weird but I haven’t seen them in normal play).
Other than looks though I think there is no difference, and the smaller non-capitals are much easier to get.
I settled for an A class. It’s plenty.
You have to save before the warp in; you can no longer save on the space station. IIRC you don’t get a save on exiting your ship after the freighter battle, so you can reload and warp back in again.
It was one with a message that someone copied from a commit I had made a full year before. It broke the build right before a release and the commit message bore no relation to the changes, of course.
Because they had copied my message, it had my initials in. I had visits from irate managers in other buildings who ranted at me for a good 5 minutes without letting me get a word in to tell them that 1) it wasn’t me, and 2) undoing a subversion commit was a one-line command and not a good reason for the stupid amount of drama (there were no database or other irrevocable changes).
The last manager to speak to me told me it was still my fault as it was a bad message in the first place. The message read “Fixing typo in the audit log”.
If I understand correctly, you have a better chance of an S-class freighter in Outlaw systems. The capital freighters can only be got from a freighter fight, which happens after at least 5 warps and at least 3 hours gameplay.
You can save before you do the fight and reload if the freighter isn’t S-class. Reports elsewhere suggested it still took hours to find one.
Note you can tell what class a freighter is by looking at a wall in analysis mode in the landing bay.
But an A-class is plenty good enough!
