  • It gets really good when you get smart splitters. You don’t even need to really progress much in the game to get there, you just need to fill out the caterium tree in the mam. Then you can have one input for all your biomass stuff and smart splitters that take it to the constructors that will convert it to biomass, then into the constructors that will convert it to solid biomass, then into the burners. 👍

I used to build such lines in update 8 that output to a bin and I’d grab it for the burners… Just collect whatever biomass I can while I’m out getting things done and dump it every time I get back to the hub area where it was setup with the burners. It was a little ritual I had. The input on biomass burners will really cut down on how much time I have to think about it.

    :)

I’m playing 1.0 now, I just unlocked smart splitters, and I have to rebuild my biomass processing as a result.

There’s also the dimensional depot which I rushed to, and that’s a complete game changer. Finally got enough materials to just set it up on my production lines, and I’m planning to add one for biomass, so I always have a little biomass in the depot for when I’m out and about and a drop pod needs power.

  • I just don’t understand how he thought this was something he should put on a public forum.

Maybe a snide/sarcastic remark along friends, sure… It’s still not in good taste, but at least it’s contained to people you should trust.

    But… On Twitter?

    Why?

Making rude/inappropriate comments, however, is very on-brand for Elon.

  • Who dreams this up?

Nobody. Nobody dreamt it up. They are just remembering the hard reality of the early 90’s and the before times.

You know, before everyone was connected and online 24/7/365. Before “online” meant anything.

When you left your 9-5 job, drove home listening to the radio, because you didn’t have anything else to listen to, and got home to dinner on the table because you didn’t need your spouse to work for a living to make ends meet, in your home that you were able to purchase, and food that wasn’t largely artificial.

The phone would ring during dinner, and it would just keep ringing, because you’re spending time eating with your family. There was no answering machine, so it would just ring and ring.

And if nobody ever answered it, they couldn’t tell you to get back to the office because some emergency happened.

Maybe you went to the park, maybe you were out to dinner with the Mrs… Maybe you just didn’t care enough to pick up the phone. Anything could have happened.

Unlike today, where we’re bombarded by marketing and notifications constantly. All of which are demanding that you address them ASAP. Everything is an emergency, so put down your “three ingredients away from plastic” dinner, and pick up your master, and obey.

I am all out of bubble gum.

  • Their biology is still that of a carnivore.

“The cat (Felis catus), also referred to as domestic cat or house cat, is a small domesticated carnivorous mammal.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat

“A carnivore, or meat-eater (… Removed for brevity…), is an animal or plant whose nutrition and energy requirements are met by consumption of animal tissues (mainly muscle, fat and other soft tissues) as food, whether through predation or scavenging.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnivore

Further down on that same article, under characteristics:

“Characteristics commonly associated with carnivores include strength, speed, and keen senses for hunting, as well as teeth and claws for capturing and tearing prey.”

“Carnivores have comparatively short digestive systems, as they are not required to break down the tough cellulose found in plants.”

“Many hunting animals have evolved eyes facing forward, enabling depth perception. This is almost universal among mammalian predators”

Scientifically, according to their biological makeup, and nutritional requirements, cats meet all the criteria for predatory carnivores.

This is their biology. I’m not arguing for or against any science that makes them no longer required to eat actual prey/flesh that they needed to hunt and kill themselves. Biologically, their characteristics, digestion, and by proxy, their nutritional requirements, very solidly put them into the scientific category of carnivores.

One of the chief biological indicators of a carnivore vs an herbivore is digestion. Whether the animals digestive tract is designed to break down the cellular walls of plant matter. Cats lack the biological capability to break down the cellular walls in plants because of how their digestive system is configured.

Among everything else that points to them being a carnivore, that’s a big one…

Just because they can get the nutrition they need from not being a carnivore doesn’t change their scientific classification as a carnivore. They’ve evolved into efficient hunters, and though, for domestic cats, they are not required to hunt to live, they have all the tools for it.

Until they evolve to be capable of digesting plant matter more efficiently, that classification will remain unchanged. Regardless of whatever pseudo-science you want to convince yourself of.
