We have a big maple in our yard and more through the neighborhood. The sound of wind running through their leaves is very calming.

I always turned them off, unless I was just going to eat dinner and couldn’t save. The lasers for old systems like the PS2 and Sega Saturn have a longevity, and will wear out over time. I’d rather not speed that up since I plan on keeping them around. I was also scolded for wasting electricity growing up, so that is burned into my habits as well.
Not to defent the corporate dystopia, but usually to qualify for whatever kind of insurance these companies have, they are required by the insurance company to drug test. At least, that’s how it is at the company I work for. If they don’t drug test, the company is held liable for anything the employee does, and insurance won’t cover it.
I remember when this happened. I think it’s wild that she is still being detained for it.
Congrats, you’ve won at ADHD.
I have no idea, but I just assume at this point that even mentioning Lemmy on that site would result in either a ban or a shadowban from Spez’s lackeys.
Dead communities or Bot communities. Pick one.
There’s a few smaller communities on reddit that I like that don’t have a presence here, which is unfortunate. I feel ya.
Reddit is only good for massively reposted memes at this point. Any real communities with any semblance of civility are better on Lemmy, in my opinion, thanks to Reddit’s policy of shooting themselves in the foot.
Edit: even with memes, I’ve found Lemmy to be the better option.
This might make sense for people with six+ figures sitting in a savings account, but the average person today doesn’t have enough cash to think about earning interest on it. For them, paying off a debt now would be cheaper in the long run. For the most part, at least.
I like these points. Preventing a future expense by paying less now is always worth it, if you can afford it.
Another reason why I’m glad I made the switch to Lemmy.
Like, literal skeletons? Or metephorical ones? Either way, I’m pretty sure we’ll find both
Governments should not be measured in “value” of any financial aspect, but rather the quality of living of the citizens they govern. Electing a leader of questionable human rights morals would be a disaster.
At this point, I’d assume both. Also, people are wearing fur-suits to Renaissance fairs now.
I would assume so. I would also think a lot of people just aren’t comfortable consuming something that they can’t see.
I very specifically remember the controversy 15-20 years ago when it was found that many of these pouches had mold in them, and you couldn’t see it because of the pouch or even taste it. I’m sure the quality control since then has improved, but any time I see a pouch of juice, I think about that mold incident.
Isn’t Trump millions of dollars of debt right now?
I always thought this one was pretty… WEIRD…
That’s only when a country follows these rules. Some countries don’t care and will tortue POWs and then ask, “What are you gonna do about it?” Because nobody is able to hold them accountable.
This could probably be used to check for authentic game cartridges. I’m not going to be licking used games to find out if they’re real, though.
