  • A quote attributed to a few people, Heinlein and Pournelle for two, “If you can get your ship into orbit, you’re halfway to anywhere.” Both space and planets have shared and their separate problems to solve. In my head I prefer the image of most populations moving into habitats in space, customized to their preferences, with smaller settlements on various bodies for their own purposes. In my realistic view I don’t see us getting that far before we get bogged down with all the problems we’ve created on this planet. The window to a permanent space civilization might have already shut. A sad thing, as a 70s kid I grew up convinced we were full speed into some version of what scifi had sold to me.

  • The man claimed he was expressing his political beliefs

You do that by voting. Dumbass. At least he didn’t attack volunteers inside like what’s happened in other places. I can’t understand people sometimes.

“I didn’t mean to cause such a stink, but my understanding is that when signs are placed in public places, like on the road or on government land, it’s essentially litter and you’re allowed to pick them up if you want to,” the man said.

Ignorance isn’t an excuse, and that excuse might be more believable if it was off on a road corner at a light or something. A sign in the ground at a voting area…could be litter? Really? Definitely a dumbass.

  • Steve Rogers: Big man in a suit of armour. Take that off, what are you?

Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

Tony was being snarky, but he’s not wrong about the suit being just an extension. Yes, it’s important to his abilities, otherwise he wouldn’t have needed it from the beginning in the cave. But it’s also not a crutch, as Ironman 3 showed and taught him, and he’s trying to show Peter that it begins with the person.

Also keep in mind what he said to Peter in this same scene - when Peter said he just wanted to be like Tony, Tony comes back and says yeah, and I wanted you to be better. Tony knows that Peter truly doesn’t need the suit because he is that powerful, it’s just once again an extension that enhances those abilities, and if Peter thought it was the suit that made him special he wouldn’t grow.

  • Do more. Get her and others in office, and then let them have it with your demands that we not only stop helping the war, but be active in forcing it to stop. Do that regardless of who is in office, but even in the “both sides” mentality which is more likely to sway to a huge public outcry, left or right?

This didn’t begin with this election or Harris’ campaign, although it sure feels like coverage ramped up around that time. Coincidence?

A side note on the primary - I do agree that Biden shouldn’t have started a second run and we should have had a proper primary. We didn’t, and the change to Harris was so late in the game doing a primary (if that’s even legally possible) would have done more damage and missed the effect it had on Trump. We can’t fix the past, only try and navigate the present, otherwise we’d probably be best to go back to 1947 and prevent this whole mistake of using superstition and western colonialism dictate what borders are where.

  • And in a position to be able to lose it. High interest are high because they are risky, so they have to pay well to attract investing. If you already have enough money to burn, you can put money into various high risk areas and win overall. If you only have enough to sink it into a single source, you could gain. Or not.
