As a motorcyclist and bicyclist, I don’t agree with the idea that it’s the victim’s sole responsibility to be visible at all times; there is a minimum expectation of sanity behind the wheel of a multi-ton vehicle when it comes to following rules, expectations and the law.

Based on this article, I don’t think this person ought to be permitted to drive again, they’ve proven that it’s too much responsibility.

I dunno what it is, but their fries (animal style with Chiles, or plain) seem to really upset my guts, consistently. I suspect it’s their oil, but so far as I know, it’s just regular peanut oil…

I think their nickname used to be “the fist of the USSR”, because that’s where most of their military-industrial complex was actually located.

I’m hoping the same, that’s quite the story in and of itself.

I work in energy r&d, and have for several jobs over the years now.

My sadness is transmuted into passion for solving these issues from the ground up. Top brass is interested in “stock options” and blah blah blah, I’m just focused on solving technical problems to make efficient, powerful energy production that isn’t hard on the earth.

The money won’t matter if there’s nowhere to live. My efforts may not be enough, ultimately, but I’ll die knowing I tried to help solve the problems we’ve caused.

For the record, I (an engineer) test my own designs (both installation and performance) and sometimes fab them myself to identify pain points, something I encourage for all engineers.

Not as clever as a machinist when it comes to techniques for manufacturing, but I generally try to avoid the need for such techniques if I can. But sometimes it’s necessary.

Any recommendations on brands?

I wouldn’t have said it was a replacement just yet to non -open source centric folks, personally.

More attention isn’t a bad thing though, sometimes devs need more input to decide what to focus on next.

I haven’t run graphene, so I can’t speak for it. But on any other android variant, microG is a system-app, so that it can spoof Google’s services properly. That means patching the system.

Functional apps is the important bit, use of microG allows apps to provide push messaging etc without knowing Google services aren’t installed. There’s still some communication with Google as a result, but it’s fully sanitized.

I invite you to try installing common apps like Strava or Pokemon go without any Google services at all.

It’ll at least give you good directions, car/bicycle/walking-optimized based on what you select.

It’ll get there, just needs time.

There’s also CalyxOS if you don’t want to run anything Google on your phone at all, but still have functional apps and such.
