  • …but the actual responses that Rook delivers are often a far cry from the perceived intent of the dialogue choice.

From another article I found. Look, I play Origins and I played Dragon Age 2 and I played Mass Effect 2 and…that’s just Bioware. They’re not good at writing dialogue and their games are the Call Of Duty of the Fantasy RPG genre.

I saw one example that it clarified what impact a choice would actually have by saying “this would establish a trans identity” and frankly them not being trusted to write good dialogue so many times makes clunky shit like that kinda necessary. It also suffers from the Tiffany Effect in that “Trans” is not a word that lends itself to immersion in a fantasy world.

Dragon Age games just aren’t that deep and ya’ll need to just admit it.

P.S.: I might still get Veilguard on sale and frankly the game looks like it might be the most interesting that they’ve put out so far. A few clunky attempts at inclusion shouldn’t stop you from buying a game and if it does then I don’t really give a shit about your opinion.

  • I’m not sure I can offer any links but the information is absolutely out there. You should also look into rates of policing in different neighbourhoods and, since they care so much about corruption, point how much white-collar financial crime and stuff is done by white dudes.

But most importantly you gotta understand that they didn’t get there by following logic and it will be very difficult to use objectivity to pull them out an argument where being objective is not important to them.

  • How so, in this case? We can’t very well say that someone who’s been charged but not found guilty shouldn’t be allowed to keep or run for an office. The issue is that there are people who may still vote for him despite the evidence before them but that’s more a question of individual stupidity than anything to do with laws. It’s the same way Trump is allowed to run but every single person who who’s even on the fence has shown that they’ve got mush for brains.

  • Which is part of why I brought up that it’s valuable as a lot of people here seem to have decided that it’s not. My main sentiment is that we hold it from a lot of people, and instead of going Star Trek future we’re careening towards Cyberpunk 2077 and there are morons who are genuinely excited about that.

Somebody once said that “dystopia is just taking current third world/minority situations and applying it to white people”. I’m bringing it up now because so much of the world currently lives without a lot of that technology simply because using it isn’t immediately profitable. Most* white people do have greater access to newer innovations and discoveries.

(The LLM advancement is that we’re getting closer to being able to use plain language to interface with technology but yea, sure, a couple lonely people can do that I guess and we’ll pretend that it doesn’t land in the dystopia category).

  • I’ll keep it short, you got a lot of replies already. A lot of the tech is actually quite valuable and a lot of the promises of people like Elon Musk are, for lack of a better term, nearly complete horseshit.

What I’m personally exhausted by is how we’re doing all this and yet we can’t seem to bring ourselves to use it to help anyone. It isn’t the tech or the pace of development rather it’s the fact that we’ll triple someone’s productivity while keeping a five-day work-week with eight-hour days despite a mountain of studies and real-world examples showing how that’s not beneficial for anyone. So much of the development is going towards making the worst people more money and I fucking hate it so much.
