  • The fries are the worst. They put no seasoning on them and they are never crispy. I don’t get how the place is so popular. I want to like them, because they have great prices, and give fairer wages to employees than almost all other fast food places, but it’s just not very good.

They seem to be doing fine without me, though. I work across the parking lot from one, and it is packed for every single hour they are open.

  • I feel like the way out is global and cultural in nature,

I agree that it starts with a sense of a global community. Instead of people considering themselves a citizen of their homecountry, they need to switch to the mindset of being a citizen of Earth.

We now have the technology to get past the language barrier, so it is more possible to get people together, talking about our future as a species more than anytime in our history.

One thing that could help is some sort of globally available social media, or forum that automatically translate to the language of the reader. Imagine if a Chinese person could post something in Chinese, but English speakers could read and respond in English, and vice versa.

Also, ‘debauchery’, in this case just means more people are happier being themselves, and loving who they want to love, more than almost anytime in history.

These kind of people ignore all the regular kind of debauchery, like priests committing sexual abuse against children.

  • Reddit brought far more right-leaning individuals.

Definitely not going to argue with you there. I switched here to get away from that exact thing, and because I felt much more at home on Lemmy with people like you in the comments(I see you in the comments all of the time <3).

I was sick of seeing brain dead right wing and lib talking points being upvoted to the top of every thread. So it doesn’t surprise me that a lot of the Reddit immigrants are more right leaning.

Still, I am proof that at least some of us left Reddit because we found a home here surrounded by more left-leaning people. I find myself agreeing with a lot more people here than I ever did on Reddit.

  • Didn’t Lemmy have almost no content before the reddit migration?

If the Reddit fiasco didn’t happen I would have never even looked into Lemmy. I would imagine at least half, if not the majority, of Lemmy users joined around the same time.

I haven’t looked at Reddit since then, and I most definitely feel like Lemmy is much better than Reddit. I think you are focusing too much on the few Reddit immigrants that complain, and you interact with many of us that don’t complain, more often than not.

  • It really is.

I guess if I had to pick I’d definitely choose the lifetime of prison, but with the harem, or whatever. It would still get old pretty quick, I imagine. I understand the eventual insanity, for sure.

I definitely feel worse for the women in that situation, but maybe they were allowed to rotate out and leave, at the very least.
