It’s too bad this data only runs up to 2018. The current/post pandemic era I think has made us all somewhat different consumers of film nowadays. Still cool to see though what we trending towards.

So it sounds like this is a profit-driven decision with auteur dramas in general just not being as profitable as action films or films that have some element of action.
Kind of a radical idea, but I always wondered if the movie industry would do better with different pricing models. When people go to the movies nowadays it seems like its just a better deal over all to see something big budget (even though it may not be an especially good storyline). So maybe just so we can get more variety out of it, they price accordingly and see how the market reacts?
I can agree with this. Assholes from all walks.
No noticeable issues for this or other instances from mobile for me over the past couple of hours. I’m on Voyager.
That’s awful nice of the managers to take that on. I honestly think that anything that involves biohazard should not be handled by store employees at all.
Anecdotal, but it seemed like 80% of the time it was the poorer folks doing this shit. Have a sister with 4 kids, super close to welfare level and her and her kids do this shit (mostly her kids do this and she just lets them). Shes just tired and inattentive all the time. What I’ve noticed gets her attention is when a store clerk or other customer calls them out and shames them.
So public shaming may help the problem, but in today’s world some of these people may turn rabid Mama bear on you. Some stores make you count items on hangers going in and then going out. That actually might work. But I’d rather see societal behavior change instead.
Side note: My sister has worked years of retail before so no idea how tf she does this.
Used to work retail so I feel this. Crazy thing is that sometimes it only takes one or two customers (and their gremlin children) to cause this kind of chaos. I’d go into fitting rooms and shit would be thrown all over the floors. Every now and then there would be extra surprises…like food or drink containers, or used diapers, or urine in the wastebasket. Fun times.
Uhhmm this could be one of two scenarios…
People in Hawaii are deadly serious about their Spam. It is a high-theft item so places like Walmart typically lock them up.
Let me tell you how much I love to play the game of choices that I have to make very publicly and abruptly on the roads… Ashamed to say, but 9 times out of 10 I’ll make the dangerous, but more convenient one.
While I can see your point, I think it’s a chicken vs egg scenario. Major changes to infrastructure don’t come about unless theres a need to be legally compliant, or there’s a societal change driving the need. I really do think that if half of my neighborhood started biking in some capacity on a regular basis there’d be bike racks on store fronts in a matter of weeks, followed by the necessary infrastructure change. But I don’t necessarily see it working the other way as quickly. Trust me though, I’d rather the infrastructure changed first as you said because it’s kind of a nightmare riding around safely in some parts of my town.
Sucks to say but hopefully some climate change policy will eventually incentivize by law to have businesses to accomodate more things on 2-wheels.
Honestly did not know that. I guess this makes sense with cars pulling up to turn onto roadways whereas on the roads you’re already visible.
Would love to use bike lanes more, but also hope they’re at least consistent and have enough of a space buffer from vehicle traffic to feel safe.
Yeah I’ve discovered the non bike-friendly stores and venues in my area recently since getting an ebike in an attempt to be more eco-friendly. I absolutely hate it and I’ll just go to another store - I’m not locking my bike a block away. Tangential rage: bike paths or sidewalks that abruptly end, pushing me out onto a 45mph road in order to continue on my way. Shitty businesses and garbage city planning to blame.
I honestly don’t think this is a bad idea for the US…for now at least. Right now your typical options for official statements from government leaders are either through (1) politically polarized media like CNN or Fox, (2) paid subscription to better journalism, or (3) social media monopolies like Twitter (X) and Instagram. Can we really not fund something entirely independent of a mega-corporation to get official info out?
Did my taxes for years like this. Had a particularly challenging year and hired an accountant who literally played the guessing game in front of me - “if we don’t know the answer to x then we’ll just put y.” He also told me that no guarantees but the IRS doesn’t really go after small irregularities on taxes. Guess that advice and hiding behind his CPA shield was worth the money?
Also fuck TurboTax. Use FreeTaxUSA! And remember, you can use TurboTax or another satanspawn tax prep software to get your numbers about right, then file for free with FreeTaxUSA.
Was your apology in food? If so, the cat won.
