Death Gate Cycle is a classic, dragonlance-like fantasy. It takes itself noticeably less serious than WoT. But it’s pretty fun, good cast of characters.
It’s the first fantasy series I ever read so it holds a special place for me, even if WoT is my favorite.

@TimTheEnchanter
I’ve read most of the Wheel of Time books more than anything else.
I recently did a reread of the Death Gate Cycle. Kinda felt like the prototype to the cosmere.
And recently reread the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy from Tad Williams
@dirtmayor That’s not even how computers regulate heat!
@minimar
All for new IP, though I have to say that I bounced off of Outriders pretty much immediately.

I’m reading Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
@Kebab
Heck yeah! Books 5 and 6 are among the fan favorites.
I know it’s a small title, but #PlanetOfLana is maybe the best game I’ve played this year so far.
That feels about right for how long it took that one. I don’t have any idea what more modern macs are like - that 2012 one is the only one I’ve ever worked on, and it wasn’t for personal use. I suspect that if it had an SSD it would have gone faster.
Oh no worries on that, I did. Luckily the drive I was replacing was just for media, not for the OS, but I decided to go with a 2.5” SATA drive for it. My OS drive and games drive were both already NVME M.2 drives.
Speaking of slow computers though, I recently reinstalled MacOS on an iMac from like 2012… It was excruciatingly slow, even just to boot into the OS. I do not miss those days.
@alyaza Oh that is unfortunate.
@testman
Yeah kind of. It’s not really a centralized event, but just a general “Hey the industry will be doing announcements and showcases at around the same time.” At least that’s my understanding of how it works.
This livestream is sort of the kickoff.
@jnovinger
Oh also I can make a post on Mastodon and if I include the @ for a Lemmy community it will post there too. For example: https://lemmy.ml/post/1168798
@jnovinger
I can search on Mastodon for the URL of a Lemmy post or comment to reply from Mastodon.
I can follow Lemmy communities from Mastodon and it will boost all posts and comments into my feed there.
I can follow individual Lemmy users and see their posts on Mastodon.
I was able to point https://relay.fedi.buzz at Beehaw.org to generate a relay URL for it, so now all Beehaw.org posts hit my instance’s federated feed. This one really surprised me.
@bruhsoulz
It’s been good! I have to say my favorite element has been figuring out different ways that I can blend my Lemmy interactions with my Mastodon use.
Thanks @sexy_peach !
@Sewot I don’t know anything about Lemmy moderation but with Mastodon if an admin wants to moderate a remote instance there are is a Suspend option and a Limit option.
- Suspend is a hard block. Content and requests from the remote instance will not be accepted at all.
- Limit prohibits content from the remote instance from appearing in public feeds or to users that aren’t actively subscribed to that content.
I do not know if Lemmy has an equivalent, but it seems feasible.
Checked out Silent Hill Ascension last night and yeah, was not impressed and doubt I’ll look at it again.
