I mean… communities is the official term, makes sense to use it. No idea where the others come from - except magazines, that is a kbin thing.

Not too late at all. To change instances however, ypu need to register on that instance and do a new account. There isn’t a way to switch instances on one account. Many are hoping there will be at one point a functionality to export stuff from one account to another but I have no idea how realistic that is.
There is little gameplay benefit from being an MMO-lite.
There would be benefit to it if they embraced it. I’m convinced they wanted for it to be more of an MMO-lite but got cold feet and played it safe, as with everything else.
There is no denying you will be warm though.
