This is what I was going to say.
- If they’re a dev WSL is a godsend for development.
- If they are looking to move away from windows, dual boot or live cd/thumb drive are good ways to test things out.
This is what I was going to say.
A lot of the web used to run on flash. Then apple comes around and says “flash is terrible and insecure”. Within a number of years everything moved away from flash, so it’s definitely possible to force the web in new directions.
I think this is the best response in this thread.
Software engineering is a lot more than just writing some lines of code and requires more thought and planning than can be realistically put into a prompt.
Yeah, but is it good?
I recently tried “My Time at Portia” which I recall had similar issues around being developed by a Chinese company. Even though it has a lot of really good reviews, the game is janky and okay at best. All the comments for Black Myth are calling out politics, but I want to know is it actually any good.
I wouldn’t say worst, but maybe greatest difference in expectation vs reality - “My Time at Portia”.
Cutscenes and voice acting were janky. The UI felt like it was originally an MMO and feels odd for a single player game. The gameplay loop felt tedious and seemed to disrespect the player’s time.
Maybe I needed to give it more time, but for a game that I thought had generally good/great reviews, it wasn’t clicking for me.
Yeah, I feel like people are too focused on whether or not it’s “legally” collusion.
At the end of the day, it’s a single entity with an overrepresneted ability to set prices.
I think that’s because in computer science most master/slave nomenclature comes from hardware with a command/control structure (still notable in things like Spark where the namenode/master node controls the data nodes).
GIT just took naming conventions from other existing design patterns (although I should probably look up sources to verify that assumption).
Yeah that’s what I was trying to call out. Also seems some people aren’t aware that many of these investment properties were never built, so the people lost their money and the asset behind it.
With things like wsl, conda has also become less useful. Anaconda is terrible software and the need for conda managed packages is mostly lost outside of the windows OS in my opinion.
I could be wrong, but I think they’re referring to all the middle class Chinese who were using housing as an investment vehicle (cause that was a common thing in China to my understanding).
Yeah they took that prediction an odd step too far.
I get that, but also we shouldn’t have 1/5 of the bill (if 25% tip) hidden behind an expected tip.
I hate the fact that taxes aren’t required to be included with the price.
Upvote for 40 puzzles, great game(s)!!
Why urge and not mandate, how is that something h The government can’t just ask/dictate?
Yeah, you rarely hear people complain about music streaming apps because they don’t have (as much of) an exlueitivy problem. Apple/Google/Spotify/etc. Are competing on service/cost/features.
It’s great for those little bumps in resolution, but there is a real trade off between resolution and the art direction/intent. Because these systems are effectively “filling in the gaps” at a certain point you really end up making it up/corrupting the original.
Look up reinforcement learning, it’s the branch or ML/AI that Alphazero was based on. Video games are actually a main focus area for that kind of research.
As for beating Baba is You, I’m not sure. OpenAI did make an AI that could beat people in Dota - https://openai.com/research/openai-five/
It felt like they leaned too hard on the wacky seed effects than actual good platforming (maybe slightly afraid to follow user generated levels from Mario maker).
I saw so much praise for the singing piranha plant levels, but Rayman legends had already done musical levels (in a way that outshines the singing piranha plants). Everything else was just okay. If you haven’t, definitely check out Rayman Legends for a great platformer.
It almost does, of you browse on the phone it’s really pushy about creating an account or using the app. If they hadn’t started restricting the apps I would have never found Lemmy.
Am I an idiot or isn’t the “pip vs conda vs poetry” line talking about package management?
