Maybe she should buy twitter and ban the guy, or is this the wrong billionaire I am thinking of?

This part is interesting:
As solar becomes increasingly widespread and electricity prices plummet in the middle of the day when the sun is brightest, some see a risk that the incentive to deploy solar power also decreases, said Esparrago.
That makes grid improvements and the rapid rollout of storage technologies like batteries crucial, experts argue. But the EU is still lagging behind in that area.
I wonder however how far we are from that? There is probably a lot of incentivising that can be done to get people and industry to use this ‘surplus’ daytime energy up surely. Its weird because its usually the opposite with cheap night rates - I know many people who intentionally consume energy overnight instead of the day because its cheaper. Flip that on its head maybe that isn’t as pressing an issue?
I mean there are also other countries in the world with various varieties of conservatives but I see your point
I mean, while that could be correct I also consider that if far right spaces get banned regularly then those people are refugees that will invade the next closest thing?
Obviously the next closest thing to far right, is center right. Does that make the center right inherently bad? I don’t think so necessarily on principle.
I disagree with conservative views almost entirely but its not something that I believe shouldn’t have discussion spaces, unlike far right politics which can just get fucked with their disdain for basic human rights, they don’t deserve a seat at the table at all.
I suppose ultimately it’s down to moderation isn’t it. If conservatives want a seat at the table they have to keep their lunatics in check and if they don’t then yeah don’t see why I should cry over it really, and thats true of all online communities.
Yeah I feel you there, it is very annoying. I’m similar to you that I don’t mind used phones with some bumps and scrapes to them but a giant glowing line and two dead patches on the screen really make the phone unusable without screen replacement and it doesn’t sound like the business made that clear to you at all. Hopefully they will give a refund without issue!
Did the seller not include a picture of the issue? Because that’s pretty shitty if so.
I mean honestly it’s probably near impossible to discuss conservative politics online these days without the far right loonies invading, taking over and getting the place banned lol.
Also I wonder if conservatives would be put off lemmy given the political stance of its creators - even though that shouldn’t matter being free and open and not controlled by any one person, you know how people are.
Yep, in the UK it’s part of the theory test, you have to know how and when to check air and fluid levels in order to get a licence.
Where are you from where those things are not part of a driving test?
I made a second account on lemm.ee - it’s big so has all the connections you could need and has amazing uptime.
These papers and the people who write them truly are insane. I had the English version of the paper through my door the other week and you would think it’s satire It’s so ridiculous.
These far-right loony circle-jerks would be fascinating if they weren’t so troubling.
That’s just on lemmy.world website. But if I toggle that, it also changes what I see on Sync.
Sync also has a ‘hide read’ button although it unhides on page refresh - but it’s handy for quickly finding fresh posts.
I’m sure the search problem will be solved somehow. Like all the content is on each instance so its just a case of it being accessible and indexed by google I guess?
People having to work harder is good? No I disagree with that entirely.
Part of what makes reddit so amazing is the amount of amazing knowledge and answers you can find from google.
Comparing the two communities, reddit nearly always has way more quality content and news for me though for the time being. Often even with big news it’s just not here on Lemmy at all. Many posts also have 0 comments and you just wouldn’t see that on Reddit. Once Sync can create posts I will probably start x-posting more from reddit to lemmy for communities I am most interested in.
For now I think I will start browsing Lemmy and then visit Reddit for anything I missed. Keeping my posting and commenting over here mostly because I’d like to see this place grow.
There is an option in settings at least for me, ‘show read posts’ if you uncheck that they will disappear. It’s not an easy access toggle though unfortunately.
Can’t tell if you are being serious or pulling my leg with that but I love it haha. I mean it’s a perfect way to distinguish because over here we have no good way to call the spiders other than ‘one of those long leg small body kinda spiders’ which is a terrible name.
I mean fair I guess we’re on the same page there then. But if it caters to a different clientele then the existing clientele will move elsewhere was really what I was getting at, and that may possibly be here.
I mean Facebook is actually a perfect example though no? I don’t know anyone below 40 who uses it. Eventually people get fed up of these stupid websites and move elsewhere.
Reddit will be around just like Facebook sure, but somewhere else will pick up the slack.
In Facebooks case that was Instagram largely which you know, also they owned. In Reddits case it may be Lemmy it may be elsewhere, we will see.
I noticed in my local supermarket in the UK they started wearing cameras too it’s really weird. I’m really not sure what their goal is - it will never help shoplifting as much as static cameras, and seems a lot of effort to safeguard against abusive customers.
