Involuntary hospitalization is real. I lived it. It is allowed.
randomdeadguy@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•if you are a doctor or registered nurse, what's the point of manipulating a patient to stay at your unit even if he wants to leave against medical advice?English73·6 months agoIt’s entirely unprofitable to send a bill to a dead patient

randomdeadguy@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•*Permanently Deleted*English3·7 months agoThis person is one-upping you only to prove to themselves that their experience was justified, by making yours unjustified. I get defensive when someone brings up a workplace I struggled with. I think the perspective of the person that put your experience down as “not-real” is attacking your experience out of defense. It’s rude and ugly, but the alternative is that “warehouses” are Not bad to work in, or that you are better at working a warehouse than they were. It might be emotionally painful to consider those alternatives, and it’s much easier to make younger workers feel overly entitled.

Other animal brains, (whale, deer, cow, grasshopper, bird) are not owned by themselves, perhaps animals are simply incapable of comprehending our level of organization. That’s why we can make their decisions for them.

Sorry it’s just absolutely bizarre to me to think of a part of your body having different ownership than the other parts. Too atomistic. Are we renting out the space in our heads? If so, shouldn’t that be mitigated to prevent unnecessary damage?
I feel like Chicken Tonight like Chicken Tonight!

It can be easier to control one’s appearance than to control unidentified problems. There’s a huge market for fashion & cosmetics, perhaps bigger than the education industry. All people have value regardless of appearance or ability, of course.

randomdeadguy@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If we're living in a simulation, why would the simulation creators allow the sims to ponder and speculate whether or not they live in a simulation?English26·7 months agoCreators don’t have to be all-knowing. Also, because believing this reality is a simulation does not change the rules we live by, there is no difference between the life of a sim-denier and sim-believer. It’s not as if you’d be punished just for [redacted].

randomdeadguy@lemmy.worldtoFacepalm@lemmy.world•A conversation with a school teacher in the state of FloridaEnglish9·9 months agoI had a chemistry professor who used our class time to teach us about how the greenhouse effect is a lie made up by Al Gore to sell more Carbon Credits. And he, a god-fearing, former Exxon-Mobil career petroleum chemist, who was Chair of the university Chemistry Department, decided to avail we Gen Chem students of this terrible liberal misinformation. I lost a lot of respect that day. I hate you, “professor” Earl F. Pearson. Line your pockets in hell.
Ah jeez no I’m sorry, I was being much too severe and I had oversimplified it. Normalcy is great for all kinds of things like roads and statistics. Some of my best friends are normal!
I’ve had to explain… basically everything to him because he had never experienced/heard of these before
Oh I see what happened here. You as The Giver must enlighten this sheltered one the experiences that were entrusted to you. He might not forgive you for sharing such knowledge, but it is your duty.
