17·28 days agoIt might sound stupid, but sometimes (at least for me) I find joy in bringing others joy. I do my best to compliment strangers around me when I notice that they’ve done something special to make themselves look nice or if I really like a piece of clothing. I go out of my way to bring/send treats to my coworkers or friends when they have a special day coming up. It’s a reminder to them (and to myself) that the world is what we make of it, so why not do what we can to make it better? Joy is not a zero-sum game - something that takes me an iota of effort to do can bring huge returns in happiness of others.

I figured the author was just padding the article with jokes, but I agree, that one was out of left field
I don’t have the equipment to know if this is true or not, but it seems smart to ask the person you’re fitting so that you don’t accidentally grope them

6·2 months agoIt’s a super fun game. I love the drawing aspect of it, and the humor is really good too. The art style is really beautiful as well.
You’re right in that any non-zero value casted to bit becomes 1, but that includes negative values, so I’m even more confused why you’d need ABS there…
I always thought writing essays was the stupidest part of any class because it’s entirely up to the teacher’s viewpoint on whether the essay was good or not. I finally had a prof in college that REQUIRED us to have a meeting with him with our first draft in hand so that he could critique them before actually turning them in for grading, and suddenly it became so much easier to get good grades on essays.
I haven’t read it, but I’ve heard the Forrest Gump movie is much better than the novel.
