Oh, 100%. One of the side effects of trying to appeal to families, who are usually more budget-conscious, is that they felt like they had to bring the price down… despite the fact that that was basically impossible. I’m not saying they should have gone luxury, but I’m puzzled as to why they wouldn’t target the many nerds who have lots of disposable income and would kill to throw it at this kin dof experience.
True, but those are feature films. After an hour or two the audience starts losing the plot, literally. Jenny’s video I would describe more as a documentary (I’d categorize most video essays as such), which typically run for much longer without losing too much.
My take was that they were pulled very hard in two directions: the initial idea was to appeal to the hardcore fan who would love nothing more than to drop thousands of dollars to have an immersive Star Wars experience, and it was see-saw’d by the desire to also appeal to the classic Disney market of families with children. Inevitable result: you get something that satisfies neither group.
I don’t give a shit whether people 3 decades ago would have watched this, since they had no way to do so. It does worry me that if you post a video longer than 30 seconds or write a response in paragraphs, the immediate response is “tldr?”.
You should watch it. Jenny does a great job breaking down what they did right and wrong. And it turns out it was such a monumental project that you need four hours to talk about it fully.
Our attention spans are dropping precipitously, and it worries me.
Picture-in-picture is one of those things that should only happen when I explicitly ask for it, in my opinion.
I am, thank you! It’s pretty common in my city, the police took one look at the surveillance footage and shrugged it off. I hope the thief got a decent amount for it.
The new ebike was my first big purchase after getting the new job, and it’s a ton of fun. :)
My first ebike was stolen, about a week after I’d put it together. I was looking forward to zipping around my city with it. What really sucked is that I had bought it before getting laid off, and was looking forward to zipping around the city for fun while I looked for a new job. Luckily, I did find something new after 6 months and could eventually buy a new one.
You’re just proving my point… MBFC marks Reuters as very slightly left of center in terms of bias. If you think that Reuters is actually center-right, then you agree with me. You’re clearly either not reading what I’m saying, or trying to push a point, either way I’m done here.
What does it being world news have to do with it? My comment was that if MBFC marks the Associated Press, one of the most neutral news sources in the world alongside perhaps Reuters, as center-left, then naturally you should adjust all their judgments slightly to the right.
Again, the only non-rambling concern I’ve seen about MBFC is that they are staunchly pro-Israel. What evidence do you have that they’re “far-right”? Calling AP center-left is a slight bias shift, but certainly not enough for me to call them far-right.
If that’s really your complaint, then if it’s not about Israel or Hamas, then I don’t see why we can’t use it.
You kinda have to shift everything they put slightly to the right - if AP is center-left, then I don’t know what to say anymore.
The usual complaint that I see people bring up is that the people behind it have a pro-Israel bias. But for a quick glance, it’s fine. The issue is that on Reddit, you’d have like 5 bot replies for 1000 human replies, and on Lemmy you’ll have 3 for 15 of the same, so they stand out more. In my opinion, anyway.
Brother printers are easily within 100-200.

Are you even looking at them?
It’s interesting to see how much of Canada has bitten the American onion over the past few decades.
The big differentiator in this thread is “can you bend?” because if you’re stuck in an Air temple unable to fly, that would kind of suck. I guess if you had a buddy with a sky bison, that might make it easier. But the Earth kingdom seems to have their shit the most figured out out of all the kingdoms (Fire’s fascism notwithstanding).
Then why (and I’m not trying to attack you, I’m genuinely curious) have we not seen anything about them protesting before? Because it didn’t directly affect them? Sounds pretty similar to most ultra-conservative groups, I guess.
Their "bias* ratings skew slightly to the left (e.g. in no universe is the AP left-center), and people have complained about positive ratings for pro-Israel news outlets.
