I’ve said it before - an insurgency in the Rocky Mountains would be an absolute nightmare for an occupier.

    No shit. Sovereignty is nonnegotiable.

Americans would do the same if tanks rolled into their cities and a foreign nation invaded, as would anyone.

Sadly I don’t feel you are too far off. 1/3 voted from Trump and 1/3 didn’t vote. I am in the 1/3 that did vote and have been screaming about what a fuck nugget Trump is for the last 20 years. I am flooded in stupid.

Donald’s not going to last 3 years neither is Putin. Both have moved across the 70 line and putin has cancer. Donald is progressing in dementia. By summer any attempt at war will be offset by massive global fires. And those are going to be so much worse in the US now that they isolated. This was possibly the dumbest time for them to isolate and play dictatorship games considering how much closer they are to the equator.

The problem is - and this is how Canada sees it - Trunp is a useful idiot out who represents an overall imperialist urge of the US that will continue after Trump is gone. After Trump, someone (Vance or someone else) will continue his insane maga policies. Canada can have no part in that other than the minimum interaction. Forever.

        Correct.

Even without Trump, the ghouls behind Project2025 still exist.

Even without Putin, the Russian oligarchs still exist.

Correct, anything short of a civil war in the USA and subsequent re writing of their constitution to provide some guarantees there will always be adults supervising their government, Canada and the rest of the world cannot trust the USA again

Trump is too dumb to realise this but he single handedly destroyed the USA. By the time the persistent global boycott is felt, the USA would be in such disarray, nothing will work internally. And any relationship with the USA in the future would price in the risk of another betrayal

It’s an expression Americans came up with to explain it was OK to have a lunatic as President

It’s supposed to mean there are checks and balances so one deranged president doesn’t, I don’t know, collapse the economy applying tariffs like he drinks coke

will continue his insane maga policies

Not feasible. Theyve already lost too much popularity.

They will have a sobering nationwide fire. Climate change has already taken effect and it’s been a global effort for the past half a decade at least. They won’t have food as they’ve isolated.

The entire American continent relies on each other year round and once US burns up they won’t be able to grow anything and because theyve isolated they won’t have much recourse but to make amends to whomever they can.

They are already begging Europe for eggs. No continent is an entirely self sufficient right now with climate change.

That and there’s a severe downtick in population growth. Gets worse under a dictatorship as both Putin and Kim are finding. So many are fleeing the US aside from the amount of people who are getting kidnapped. So their tax payer base is going to dwindle and collapse if they keep this up. And being that they have forgone necessary vaccines, one pandemic will pretty much wipe out a lot of population.

Additionally US can’t afford war. The cost of artillery alone would waste them. And that they’re waning their relationship with Canada being their main metal supply chain for said artillery. And trump is spending all their tax money on golf parties anyways. They are about to surpass anything they were in debt in their entire history. They over extended to 700+ military bases worldwide and their foreign debt is enormous. And If China and japan cashed in their treasuries the US dollar would be worth less than a grain of sand. The main reason trump is sending people to El Salvador is that the prisons there cost the US half of what it would cost to keep the prisoners in the US. US have been in a downtick for a while now and they were in crisis well before trump. He’s just thinking he’s fixing it in the most stupid ways imaginable because he has a personality disorder and dementia along with stupid personal vendettas.

So far as Friday the bill for ultimate executive order to be able to have full power without question by congress didn’t pass. Why this is important : congress still hold the purse strings to decide whether or not tax payer money is used for war with the US military. So for now as it stands trump is all bark when threatening to invade. And even if he did get it through, there also stands the flag officers who then decide if such a decision is considered illegal or ‘callous’ I guess the word is for genocide and if they want to make such a decision to then commit war crime.

And as far as someone taking over: Vance doesn’t even support nor understand the reason trump wants Greenland. Because it’s just a dying dream of an old dictator that will die with trump. And they are about to lose their house in the midterms. if you pay attention to the US politics they are going to have a very opposite effect on their midterm which would be the only chance to save themselves. They started turning ruby states blue because of how poorly Elon is fucking the whole thing up. (He’s now warranted for arrest in Wisconsin for vote tampering) They already flipped two seats. The race right now for them is to tip the house. Wishing you luck, Dems! Take that house back!

American armed forces have shot at American civilians in the past.

No, this is a major reason they will invade Canada. Starving people are desperate people.

they’re waning their relationship with Canada being their main metal supply chain for said artillery.

This is another reason they will invade Canada. They won’t allow their war machine to starve either. They will do anything they have to do to keep it moving.

trump is cutting the budget on the war machine too. And the vets. And culled DEI… their morale is at an all time low. He doesn’t give a shit about military and treats them as nothing more than an asset for estate expansions.

And as for reasons you’re giving to survive: it is already in place without war. as it stood before trump took over US already had food and metal and help with putting out fires without a war. And people are already currently fleeing to the North without violence. US gets all these things without needing to force their dictatorship on all their allies.

It will cost more metal in artillery to go to war and serve no function other than to start even more fires burning up areas that you’d be running to anyways and making it unusable. Doesn’t jive with his estate plans. So it makes no sense. And during fire season the place will burn up without firefighters that come from Canada and Australia (and given that trump failed during the last fire in California I think they are in worse hands now) because as I said : it’s a global condition. There is already a functional relationship in place to try to sustain life in a very delicate environment as the climate changes. Now is not the time for power and expansion. It’s the time for sustainability.

That I as a US citizen would support and materially aid in any way I could (the resistance, not the invasion).
