It was unclear whether body camera footage of the incident existed or if it would be released.
“It was unclear whether the sheriff department’s account of the incident contained a shred of truth”—FTFY.
16 years in prison for something he didnt do, 100% reasonable to resist arrest after that
It would be nice if the article at least mentioned what the grounds for arrest were. I’ve never been arrested for a speeding infraction, especially not one that is 20 over on the highway. Drive for five minutes in any direction and you’ll see that
if the article at least mentioned what the grounds for arrest were
The headline states the grounds for arrest clearly:
Georgia deputy kills black man
Yep, that’s standard procedure for Georgia.
What do we mean by “if it will be released”?
They don’t get to make that call.
That’s the whole point of FOIA.
“Oh, sorry, we deleted all the data on the memory cards… by mistake. For the fifth time.”

The FOIA’s criminal sanctions are found in Section 25-19-104, which provides that “[a]ny person who negligently violates any provisions of this [act] shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor.” A Class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of up to $500, imprisonment for up to 30 days, or both.
Throw the book at them.
That’s just throwing a pamphlet.
Got any examples of that ever being enforced?
Journalists are such pussies these days.
pretty much any judge can squash FOIA requests
the FOIA for the death squad murder of Michael F Reinoehl was squashed by a county judge. Not even federal.
FUUUUUUCK cops
I’ve been pulled over for that and there was never a moment that I thought the police officer would end my life. I don’t think I can quite comprehend what black people go through on traffic stops.
