The announcement follows Newsom’s 2024 executive order, which directed encampment cleanups after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling granted state and local governments more authority to remove them.

Gavin has done what no one else is doing, punching back, speaking Trump’s language. It’s getting attention from all quarters. Meanwhile Dems are busy shutting him down preemptively because purity tests. It’s another fascinating move from the “we don’t want to govern” party.

Punching back is the absolute bare minimum requirement for a supposed opposition party (looking at you Schumer and Jeffries).

But Newsom has been repeatedly demonstrating that he is willing to throw our trans friends and unhoused neighbors under the bus for political points. Ask yourself, if he’s willing to betray one group, what’s stopping him from betraying any other group should he decide that it’s politically expedient?

This has nothing to do with “purity tests”

Thank you for being more eloquent with your reply than I was able to be. That purity test comment made me see red. Where else are disenfranchised groups to go, but to the left? How can we be represented if the only place we can turn refuses to represent us?

Comments about purity tests are conversation-terminating cliches that should be downvoted.

That’s the idea. That’s the entire idea. Betrayal of the marginalized is centrists’ whole thing.

What do you think Trump will do to poor people?

This is every bit the Dems who refused to vote Kamala because of her Palestinian stance - a purity test that helped ensure Trump won, and we’d sit and do nothing as a genocide occurred. But we sure showed Kamala, huh

Anyone who unironically uses the phrase “purity test” is just saying that they have no standards and expect everyone to their left to abandon theirs.

Isrsael explicitly say they want to do their own version of the holocust and still think it’s not the priority? You had zero moral

Newsom can talk ahit about Trump all he likes. Maybe it’ll help instead of just being an empty gesture, we’ll see.

But even if it succeeds, that doesn’t mean I’m obligated to support him in 2028. Though I might add him to the list of centrists I despise slightly less than the others.

He’s redistricting California which, now TWO red states are doing, but only one blue state has accomplished. Will any others?

          He’s redistricting California

He got it on the ballot, which is being voted on in November. This is not the same thing as him redistricting the state, and it also gives him a way to be blameless if it fails.

From what I can tell there isn’t a law that requires districting changes go to a popular vote in California. If I’m wrong on this someone please correct me.
