Hello all. I was looking for a specific Car diagnostic software package and I noticed that this type of software doesn’t come across often on the seas. are their any good places I can go to start looking for this kind of software. The software often cost up to 500 dollars or more and for me it would be a one time maiby 2 time use.
That might be because there are free and open source versions out there
Ive used it many times. You can consult, and erase errors code etc.
If you know what you are doing, this app is perfect.Perfect to do some diagnostics
Awesome for sell a car to be able to erase the error code. /s
Awesome to buy a car too, andrOBD then ;)
Gave it a shot and almost anything i select it states unsupported.
What kind of connector are you using to the car?
The cheap OBD dongles are all elm 327 only support a basic error reading and clearing, and some basic engine metrics.
No those lack most if not all required features

You didn’t mention what features you need. I’m saying it’s option that might work for someone who just wants to fetch some metrics from their vehicle
calibrating the feul injection of the car. is one of the things i require. Also being able the change parameters in the ECU.
most of that software requires a subscription, i tried to copy honda stuffs, parts catalogs and service manuals, when i worked for a honda shop. that shit was locked down. this was 2009, 2010. good luck.
Really depends on the make, you can get Mitchell and AllData prior to the subscription model (takes about a TB of space, from 1980s to 2013) to help with diagrams and disassembly and reassembly. Mitchell’s wiring diagrams really are a lifesaver.
Dealer level software/scanner combo you can get from obdii365, I got a Hyundai scanner from them and it worked well but you want to run the software in a VM or isolate it some other way and probably wouldn’t network it.
Vxdiag is pretty solid as well for the dealer software/scanner and you can usually get via Amazon but again I wouldn’t trust the software. I have their ford one and used it with IDS to set the VIN on an electronic power steering rack.
The software itself you can find via Google if it’s all you need but typically the scanner is very specific to the software for the dealership stuff
There’s is pretty much one sketchy site for this stuff I can’t remember the name of it, but I think it requires a payment to access downloads. Almost all pirated car software comes from eastern Europe.
Mhhauto
I have found it but you need to send a email and then pay a fee to access the site. which is not something I am interested in
Well worth it. For the software and the help. I saved $$$ uploading fuel injector profiles for a Cat engine in a Freightliner truck & programming some features into an International Truck. The guys there are friendly & helpful.
I too would be interested. Never thought to look for a pirated copy. Commenting so I can report back if I find any!
Edit - just install the search function on qbittorrent mate, search for “OBD”. There are dozens and dozens of them!
I know some are their. But the more high end once are not. Also many of them are very outdated or OBD 1 and not OBD II
link to obd 1 programs please. that sounds interesting, obd 1 ended in 1996.
I use forscan which is free, and quite powerful, more than what I need, though it is more made for ford it still works for other makes
I had this problem around ten years ago where I wanted to be able to disable the esp (which prevents powerslides) in my VW Caddy. I found a hardware/software kit on aliexpress that went for around 30$. Maybe have a look there, I don’t know how new your car is and what model it is, but if somebody made an aftermarket kit for your car, there might be a cheap copy of that available from china.
Mine worked fine, I could disable the annoying option where the car always gives 3 consecutive turning signals, no matter how short you move the lever. Also daytime lights could be enabled, and whatnot.
Turning off the esp was not even an option with this board computer unfortunately so I had to interrupt the power line of a sensor with a switch to archive that, which I found out on an obscure German forum thread years later…
Ahhh stealing from small companies now?
Define small.
Cobb tuning, the largest shop I know, has 35 employees and was started as a single guy in 2000. That’s the biggest. All downhill from there.
It’s specialized automotive software that’s typically only sold to auto enthusiast. Revenue 18M last year.
I understand now, thanks for the context I’m actually sorry for the down votes you’re getting.
Seconded. 🤘🏼
Fuckin’ Reddit, leaking.
