Suffering from chronic Head Empty Syndrome.
I would pay a reasonable amount to use Reddit if their true issue is not being profitable enough. If they lowered the API access fees to a reasonable figure, I would pay for a third party app. I would also pay for Reddit itself if it continued to allow third party access to the API like they have been. Maybe I’m in the minority, but if the argument is “if it’s free, then you’re the product” then I would, as dystopian as it sounds, pay for Reddit.
Reddit has answered almost every question I’ve ever had for years. The potential loss of all the knowledge is my greatest concern.
It does, but it’s so small and fragmented at the moment. Hopefully it grows, but I worry the learning curve might be too steep for some.
Yeah same. I have no real love for Reddit itself, but it has so many subreddits dedicates to very specific interests. They’re so easy to find and they can turn into such a treasure trove of information. I’ll stop using Reddit as my “main” social media, but I’ll probably still use it just for certain subreddits.
I also am looking for a replacement Grimdank. May the Machine God guide us to a new grimdark shitpost repository.
I do too, but I feel like it won’t because the whole federated thing makes it a bit difficult to grasp and seems very fragmented overall. Right now lemmy has less users than a single “small” subreddit. We’ll have to wait.
I think I’m getting the hang of it, I’m just concerned it won’t ever get to the point of having as many in depth communities as Reddit, because that’s what I like most about Reddit
I love the tactile feeling of writing on paper.
