I didn’t know there’s a console with the floppy and disc drives. And it’s missing the stand piece but I’m satisfied overall. I haven’t powered it on yet because I want to test the power supply and give it a good cleaning first.

My dad had one of these when it was new. The monitor stand and desktop breakout piece for the removable media was cool at the time, but would look really weird today with flat panel display instead of a CRT. That thing would pop-up as well, if I remember correctly. It would sit on the desk pretty stealth, then you push down on the top and it would slide up to reveal the removal media slots.

Yeah, the power button was on the console was well. The tower could sit under the desk and out of the way, as all the things you needed to interact with were on the desk.

There might be a backup somewhere, but since we had the console, it was never something I went looking for.

If you’re looking for more information, I think this was the Aptiva S. Aptiva more generically covered a wide range of IBM PCs from that era.

This shows the whole setup. You can see the power button on the console.
