Americans… this is why you NEED to take the streets now

The same illegality and callousness that keeps the people in power from upholding the law will be in place when they decide you cannot keep your house or should be jailed for whatever reason with no process or even kill you for anything (such as speaking up)… you think you are not affected and keep your head down may save you but it won’t.

There have been multiple protests every week in my city for months. I see virtually no coverage of it in the news.

I think we need a better strategy.

General strike or, if feeling more aggressive, protest directly in front of the news stations. Peacefully prevent their staff from leavind anywhere without covering the event

Are y’all not seeing more protests, and bigger protests than you were in 2020? The only difference here is that I haven’t seen violence or property damage. Otherwise the protests are bigger and more frequent.

The new footage of ICE’s warrantless arrest shows the Palestinian student fully cooperated with federal agents and was not a flight risk, as the government continues to falsely claim.

    […]

The new footage, released after Khalil’s legal team subpoenaed Columbia University, clearly shows Khalil speaking on the phone before handing the phone to the agents seeking to detain him. Khalil was talking to his attorney, according to his legal team, which also said Khalil asked to see a warrant. At some points in the video, which doesn’t include audio, Khalil appears to be casually chatting with the agents, who seem to express no fear of him fleeing. Khalil has no handcuffs on for at least five minutes.

But he was a flight risk. Every flight risk spends five minutes talking without running. C’mon guys. He’s dangerous because he’s anti-genocide. C’mon.

If you need me to tell you that this is sarcasm, fuck you.

The ones that could do something about it are controlled by the Trump regime.

Right. I’ve said it in other posts. We have gotten to the point where they can sit in court, under oath, and just flat out admit to everything. No hiding or misdirection. Just straight up admit to it. And nothing would happen.

But the Trump-Vance administration admitted last month that there was no warrant, claiming it didn’t need one to arrest the Columbia pro-Palestine and anti-war protest leader because “it was likely he would escape before they could obtain a warrant.”

That is not how warrants work, that’s not how anything works.

Lawyei involved in this should be disbarred. If you make arguments that blatantly ignore US law then you have no business being a lawyer. If you lie for your client in court, disbar that shit.

Agreed - if the powers that be aren’t going to hold the president to account at least we need to insist they hold his minions to account.

The problem is, unless it’s state charges Trump has control of the people who could hold them to account. And he could just pardon them even if they were convicted of something.

Well Trump can’t do much if they are disbarred and can’t be a lawyer anymore. Keep disbarring them and take away their livelihood amd it would give pause to those still under his power and most likely keep the lawyers from lying in court.

True, non-criminal punishments such as disbarring would be doable. But they still won’t do even that.

Why are we blurring the faces of the ICE agents here?

They are public servants paid by our taxes.

And if the area they’re in is considered private, well then they’re criminals who are trespassing to arrest somebody without a warrant and don’t deserve any anonymity.

And if they’re going to be causing chilling effects left and right, we should do the same… Maybe if we named and shamed these people, other agents might think twice before doing this kind of shit.

I mean, probably not as that would require introspection, but you know…

Why are we blurring the faces of the ICE agents here?

Because accountability isn’t a thing anymore.

Their fear of accountability is exactly why their faces are blurred. Their afraid of anyone finding out who they are, or where they live.

Khalil remains in a Louisana ICE detention facility. After he challenged his arrest in court, a federal judge asked the Trump administration to simply back up its grounds for arresting the permanent resident, and the administration responded with an objection, saying the order was "misguided.”

Oh. Okay. It’s a “misguided” court order, so clearly they don’t have to abide by it. I’m gonna keep that one in my back pocket next time I’m in court. Your honor, I felt that the speed limit was misguided.

Lying in court doesnt matter, breaking the law doesnt matter, going against the constitution doesnt matter.

We’ve already reached the point that the gang has said “We have control of the Military and all the Armed services of the government, the fuck are you gonna do about it?”

Here’s the deal, I think most have figured out that it’s going to take something massive to have any impact, either a full on general strike or coordinated direct action. Things are going to have to be dire, and yes I agree they are already, but the average American has been at worst inconvenienced. The tragedies that just occurred related to extreme weather may get the ball moving for some and the worse things get the likelier action becomes. I hate that I’m saying this but I hope things get that bad soon or I fear it may be too late. But protests are not going to do jack shit, the admin wants an excuse to declare martial law

We had 4 years to do that, but if we had done that the democratic party might not have been able to move as far to the right as they wanted while still being second worst to their opponents.

When you lie in court it’s a crime. When they lie in court it’s just an innocent mistake a no one’s responsible.
