This headline is terrible journalism. Guess I shouldn’t expect much from a random website from Morocco when it comes to unbiased reporting on Israel though.

His point was, that the UN guy didn’t resign because of the Hamas Israel war. The UN Guy announced in march 2023 that he was going to retire - and now he finally did it. The way the „source“ paints it, that it was because of the war. This is just Disinformation.

You can read the letter, it’s an open statement. He extensively talks about the Hamas-Israel war. He cites directly the actions and statements from the US, EU and UK about Israel and Palestine as the reasons to retire effectively at this date as a protest, even if he was going to retire this year anyways.

And at no point does that letter in any way confirm the title of your post…

He is retiring in a few days because that is the scheduled date of his retirement. He used this opportunity to voice his opinion one last time, which is fair. But he is not retiring “at this date as of protest”. That would be called resigning and he is not doing that.

            Here is his letter:
            https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24103463-craig-mokhiber-resignation-letter

            The last paragraph reads:

I thank you, High Commissioner, Volker, for hearing this final appeal from my desk. I will leave the Office in a few days for the last time, after more than three decades of service. But please do not hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance in the future.

I mean, you can guess to his point, but since he doesn’t say so that’s all it is, a guessing game.

Why are we allowing a random news site from Morocco on this forum? Do we know their journalistic standards? Is the country a democracy with a good reputation for free speech?
